Guest Rune Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Okay, I've just got my domain name thingie confirmed right now, and I can log into the thing to change the settings and name servers and stuff. And I signed up for ***** hosting before it was confirmed (this morning), so how long do I wait until I can use ***** hosting? Okay thanks all. ^^ Quote
Junior Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Have you purchased a hosting package with *****? If so, in your welcome email (if you haven't received it yet, you will before long) will be instructions on how to set up your web site. You will have to list the name servers for us for your domain name. Who did you purchase the domain name thru? If you did not list ***** as your name servers, that will have to be changed with your registrar, then it will have to propogate thru the name servers. This will usually take 24-72 hours. Once that is done, you will be able to access your web site using your domain name. The welcome letter you received/will receive from us will have detailed instructions on how to access your web site prior to the nameserves being updated, so you can get your site ready. If you haven't received the welcome letter, please be patient. We are very busy processing orders, and will get to yours shortly. Quote
Guest Rune Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 I purchased the domain name through www.active-domain.com ... And yes, I already ordered but have not received the welcome email... ::pouts:: I'll try to be patient... but patience isn't one of my strong suits... but i don't think patience is any teenager's strong suit.... ^-^;;; You guys are neat people. I can't wait until I can log in. This place has a nice friendly atomosphere, and you respond to questions quickly too. The domain thingie said I have to wait up 72 hours before my domain becomes active... Er.. I don't really get what that means but yeah... (This is my first time getting a domain name and paid web hosting) Anywhom, thx a bunches for answering my question. Ja~! Quote
Junior Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Welcome to your new home! You will love it here, and we are glad to have you, and we will do our very best to help you in any way. Once the name servers are pointed to us, *usually* it is propogated in 24 to 48 hours (the most I have ever had to wait was about 24 hours), but once you get your welcome email, you will have a link to access your site (without a domain name), and then you can get to work on getting your web site set up. This way, once the nameservers do get updated, chance are, you will already have your site up and waiting! What is your doman name that you registered, and I will look and see what shows up? Quote
Guest Guest Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 It's www.rune-relic.net ^-^; I was thinking maybe thorned-dreams.com, but my friend said that it sounded unpleasant... ^^;;; And another said that dreams was overused... so I ended up with my original one... ^^;; I can't wait to post my site up.... once I finish making it... ::anime pratfall:: I'm not done with my site yet. LoL. But thanks for all the input and help so far. I really can't wait to get my welcome email. I've been sitting here for the past two hours waiting... i click check mail every so minutes... ^^;;;; I got out of school early 'cuz of Finals. Ickyness.... Just one more day of the horrors of that which are called evil teachers, staying still, being quiet and FINALS! ^^; Gah, I started talking incessantly again.... LoL. Welps, ja~! gonna go back to staring at my inbox... (gah, i need to get a life) Quote
Junior Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Unfortuantely, I can't see the info on your domain name yet. I went to your registrar's website, and they actually show it still being available for purchase, but I checked it with GoDaddy, and it shows that it is taken (by you, I am sure), but the information associated with your domain isn't visible yet. When you purchased it, did you list any nameservers, or did you park it? Quote
Guest Rune Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 nopes... I didn't list any nameservers.... ^^;;; i think it's supposed to be parked.... Quote
Junior Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 If you didn't list any nameservers, it is parked. Once you get your welcome letter, it will list the two nameservers that you need to list with your domain, and you will need to go back to your registrar and submit those changes. Most all registrars have a link where you can log in and make modifications to your information. Once you submit those changes, that is when the 24-72 hours start to get than name in the correct nameservers. Once it does get pointed to SNH, then you will be able to access your domain by it's name. Have you received anything from your registrar on the registration yet? Quote
