Guest Michael Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 I have a domain I use for email more or less and would like to transfer it to *****'s DNS servers. I know how to do this, but I'm weary about 48 hours of rejected email people will see during the transition. Is there any way to eliminate 0 down time on my email when transferring to another DNS and setting up with another company? Thank you. Quote
Junior Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Actually, you most likely will not loose any email. Once you purchase a package here, you will be given a link to access your new site, until the dns changes are finalized. Set your web site up thru the link, and have it all ready to go, once the dns changes have propogated. You will continue to check your email at your old host until the dns change has propogated. I would suggest that you continue to check your email on your present server, every minute. That way, you may not loose any email. Of course, you *might* loose a few messages, depending on when you isp updates it's name servers. Once your isp has the name servers updated, you wlll be logging into your site here, instead of your old host, and as each name server is updated, all your email and hits to your web site will be routed here as well. Chances are that you will not loose any email, and if so, only the ones that are received at the old host, and your isp has updated the name servers, and you cannot access the old host. Quote

Hey, thanks for the info. I was thinking pretty much the same thing. I don't receive A LOT of email, but the ones I do are very important. Ok, thanks again! Quote
Junior Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 I'm glad to have helped. If you do not receive alot of email, it should not pose a problem at all. Let us know if we can help in any other way! Quote
