strodeath
When I try to publish my website, it gives me this error: Error connecting to FTP Server at ftp.hostingco.com. What's the FTP Server I need to connect to?
TCH-Don
Has your site propagated yet? if not just put in the ip address in your welcome mail. in the window for the normal ftp address instead of ftp.yoursite.com put 123.12.12.12 or whatever your ip address is

strodeath
I'll post this, for I fear that this may be my problem. I have CuteSiteBuilder and I just downloaded it yesterday, and as soon as I downloaded it I created my website, and then I clicked publish and that's it. I did nothing else in-between. Did I forget a step?
jslagle
Did you set up the site information in CSB? If you are able to complete publishing but can't see the site check the ftp directory entry. it should be public_html. If not, you will copy your site that is not visible on the net. If you are getting errors you have something else missing. Check KW's CSB support site, www.csbsupport.com for information about publishing, click on publishing on the top menu bar, then select Total Choice Hosting from the list. The CSB support forum is at http://www.globalscape.com/board/default.asp?b=1 There are a lot of folks there who will help with CSB specific questions. strodeath
Did you set up the site information in CSB? Eh, wha? Everybody keeps pushing me towards all these different help sites and I've checked them all, NOTHING works. I need to know what I need to put in the Ftp hosting Server slot, for whatever I put there, it gives me the " Error, can't reach hosting server " junk.. Edit: And no, I can't publish because I can't connect to the host server to even publish.. So my website isn't online yet. And the CSBSupport doesn't explain anything.. It tells me to enter the following for the Hosting server: ftp.****** Like that explains a lot? First of all I don't even know what the hell I'm supposed to put instead of " Your domain " and anything I do put, it doesn't work! ( This is getting very frustrating because none of these help sites bother explaining anything in details for the noobs like me )
strodeath
Any thoughts?
cmuskett
ftp.****** Like that explains a lot? First of all I don't even know what the hell I'm supposed to put instead of " Your domain " and anything I do put, it doesn't work! ( This is getting very frustrating because none of these help sites bother explaining anything in details for the noobs like me ) You would put in http://www.****** ******* being your domain name. You should have the FTP info that was sent in your welcome email. To put in a help ticket go to: Help Desk
jslagle
Here's the settings for TCH - In CSB under "Enter FTP Site Information" The following are not critical to publishing. The first is just a name tag for your use and the web site address allows you to click on "view your site" after publishing FTP Site Name = anything you want to identify the site I use. Such as "TCH ******" Web Site Address = http://www.****** These are critical. If these are not correct ftp will either fail or your site will not be in a place that is visible from the net. FTP host Address = the numerical address sent to you in the introduction email for example "216.180.255.255" enter just the number with out quote marks FTP port = 21 FTP Directory = public_html FTP user name = the login name for your account as sent in the email FTP password = the password for your account as sent in the email Default filename = index.html FTP Mode = check the box for passive Couple of other things that can cause publishing problems. under Host setup, make sure don't have either "Publish to a sub directory" or "Save a copy of .tlx file on server" checked. Do not check "Publish a copy of HTML Locally" either. There is a bug with CSB that will cause loss of inserted files and images.
strodeath
You should have the FTP info that was sent in your welcome email. That might be my problem. I never received an e-mail. The only e-mail I received was for the CuteSiteBuilder installation e-mail.. Where do I sign up to get an FTP Server?
jslagle
When you signed up with Total Choice Hosting for a place to publish your web site, you should have received a welcome email with your login name, user id, and ftp info. If you haven't received this information you should enter a help ticket at https://ssl.totalchoicehosting.com/supportdesk/
strodeath
I never signed up for TCH.. Nor did I sign-up for anything. Where do I sign up?
jslagle
Go to http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-host...ting-plans.html There are a number of plans with various combinations of size and bandwidth. Unless you are planning on a huge site, begin with the Starter Plan for $4.00 a month. lots of storage space and bandwidth. If you start running out of room contact the sales folks and they can upgrade you to a larger plan. At the bottom of the columns listing the features of each plan, click on the order button of the plan you select and follow the instuctions. You will find this is a great place to host your site and a great forum too. Rock Sign
strodeath
Yea it's a great site, I fully agree with that.. But the help section is a lil shaky.. I keep getting the same answers for a simple problem as forgetting to sign up. ^.^
jslagle
Sorry about that. We all jumped to the conclusion that you had the welcome email and info, just were having problems getting it into the right places in CSB Have you registered a domain name for your site? TCH has them for $10.95 a year. http://www.secureserver.net/default.asp?pr...simple&se=&isc= (Bill, do I get a commission?)
