Rank Evaluation??

Will add you to our Non-Profit / Information Members page shortly. In the mean time, a few notes regarding my optimization thoughts for both sites:

First, I would love to see a 'web hosting with TotalChoice' link on both home pages :)

I. OMGN

- place comment (copyright) after </head> tag

- need alt tags (not empty) on all images

- add all basic meta tags: keywords/description

- change title tag: <title>OMGN: Online Multiplayer Gaming Network • Error 404</title> ; How about: 'Online Multi-player Gaming Network'

- remove: <meta name="revisit-after" content="7 days" />

Visual notes:

I would add a couple of <br> before you begin your table (i.e. add a little white space on top).

Reduce the font size of 'Your Source….' and 'Home' at the top.

II. Friend Survey

- <title>Friend Surveys: Survey Your Friends - Main</title> ; How about: 'Free Survey Creation - Friend Survey'

- Description: Free survey script by FriendSurvey.com, create free surveys!

- Keywords: 'survey, free survey,survey script,friendsurvey.com'

- place comment (copyright) after </head> tag

- need alt tags (not empty) on all images

- remove: <meta name="revisit-after" content="14 days" />

Visual notes:

I would add a couple of <br> before you begin your table (i.e. add a little white space on top).

Reduce the font size of 'Main', 'Login', 'Signup', etc. at the top and 'Advertise', 'Copyright', etc. at the bottom.

Thanks for the reply.. Notes:

OMGN

Moved copyright HTML comment.

Added alt="i" to all invisible images.

Already had key/desc on home page only.

It'd be tough to change over completely to Multi-player... I'll add that in as a keyword.

Removed Meta.

Lowered font size of phrase and page title (But bolded).

I may add some whitespace to top, but don't know yet... Have to figure out how I'd do it if I end up doing it.

Link to TCH will randomly appear 50% of time in top-right of home page (Other 50% is "Add OMGN To Your Favorites")

FriendSurveys.com

Might change title sometime soon... I get a lot of results for the title as-is though (Friend/Friends, Survey/Surveys)

Changed description

Added in keywords you mentioned that I didn't already have

Moved copyright HTML comment

Added alt="i" to invisible images

Removed Meta.

I'll change the font sizing later when I have time. May eventually add whitespace to top.

Link to TCH appears at bottom-left on home page all the time.

More SEO thoughts:

1. Change Webhosting to Web Hosting :)

2. Description/Keywords

<meta name="description" content="OMGN is an online multiplayer gaming resource. News, reviews, editorials, interviews, a Game Directory, a great community, top games voting and more are encompassed in this expansive website." />

<meta name="keywords" content="videogame, videogames, top games, topgames, topgame, web, webgames, webgame, game, bbg, bbgs, mud, muds, news, editorial, editorials, review, reviews, community, forum, forums, bulletin boards, directory, screenshot, screenshots, screen shot, shots, vote, voting" />

Both way too long! Start your description with your number one keyword phrase. Make it only one complete sentence. Do not dilute your keywords with having so many... focus only on the top ones.

3. Change your title (<title>OMGN: Online Multiplayer Gaming Network • Home</title>.

How about: <title>Online Multiplayer Gaming Network • OMGN</title> or <title>Online Multiplayer Gaming Network</title>

Your title, description and keywords should contain your major keyword phrase(s). They should start with the number one phrase.

Before I go further, it is critical that we know what phrase we are going after. What is your best phrase? For sake of conversation let us say that 'online gaming' is the "best" phrase. Therefore:

<title>Online Gaming Site: Online Multiplayer Gaming Network</title>

<meta name="description" content="Our online gaming site, Online Multiplayer Faming Network (OMGN), is the online multiplayer gaming resource. " />

<meta name="keywords" content="online gaming,videogames,top games,multiplayer gaming,omgn" />

Now use your keyword phrase in <h1> tags and in the body of your text. Try <b> tags around the phrase sometimes in the body of the text.

4. Change all your internal 'home' links to 'online gaming home' (or keyword phrase of your choice).

5. I am assuming you want to add ads on the Tower Ad column... real bad idea! Put the Tower Ad on the bottom right (under Button links) and widen your central body section to 'fill' the space.

OK... that is all you get! :P

Done!

Mostly covered by #2. However... There is no actual text "Online Multiplayer Gaming Network" on the website. There is, however, an image in the top right with alt="Online Multiplayer Gaming Network", so I can't get the H1 in there...

4. Change all your internal 'home' links to 'online gaming home' (or keyword phrase of your choice).

This is easier said than done. I'll see what I can do...

5. I am assuming you want to add ads on the Tower Ad column... real bad idea! Put the Tower Ad on the bottom right (under Button links) and widen your central body section to 'fill' the space.

This poses a problem... I sell advertising space on OMGN to cover cost and generate some revenue for other DarqEnt projects... I can't really go through with moving the Tower Ad underneath the items on the right at this time... Perhaps if you have any other layout suggestions that will keep my 3 advertisements in good browser view?

Thanks for the help thus far!

It looks like your choose the phrase 'online multiplayer gaming' to be your number one phrase.

Well, not bad results:

Google PageRank is 5

Relevant backlinks: 67

Total number of backlinks: 1,740

Number of pages indexed (Google): 1,480

Rank (on Google) for 'online multiplayer gaming': 3

Not bad at all! ;) :D

Improvement:

1. Get rid of the 'The' in your description ( The Online Multiplayer Gaming Network...)

2. Most of you internal pages are not getting PageRank passed down to them :( , this has to do with internal link structure and is a topic I can not discuss unless I look at your site more closely and sorry, that would take too much time.

3. As stated before:

4. Change all your internal 'home' links to 'online gaming home' (or keyword phrase of your choice).

This is easier said than done. I'll see what I can do...

4. Get a DMOZ listing.

5. Get more relevant backlinks.

6. Turn those non-relevant backlinks into relevant backlinks.

Again, good job! Thumbs Up

Hmm... Would using static URLs (Discussed in some other thread here in the forums) help?

3. Change all your internal 'home' links to 'online gaming home' (or keyword phrase of your choice).

Still looking into how I would do this...

4. Get a DMOZ listing.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot this! Submitted.

5. Get more relevant backlinks.

This will come with time... I built a good base of textlinks initially, and have some button links... But more and more links will come as my website becomes more and more popular, because of my Top Games feature.

6. Turn those non-relevant backlinks into relevant backlinks.

Erm.. How do I do that?

Not necessarily... generally this would pertain to a discussion on getting pages 'indexed', not PageRank distribution. Your pages are indexed so, not an issue. It is more about 'how' your pages are linked. You know the ole flow chart 'this page is connected to that page and that page is connected to.... and so on and so on (and scooby dooby dooby, different strokes for different folks  ... oh sorry!).

Anyway, as I said can't really give you specifics without really looking and I honestly do not have the time. Sorry.

Well I have known people who submitted sites (not their own) to different directories to increase their value. Do you link to them? Little things like that :D
