Filezilla

I used to use Filezilla to upload my files to my site. I haven't had to use it in a long time because I do most of my work and uploading in Dreamweaver. I needed to use it yesterday but had to do a new download. After downloading it, first it didn't work and more importantly, it installed malware. I have since removed it and ran some malware software that got rid of 714 items all related to the software that installed when I installed Filezilla.

Can someone recommend a good ftp program, preferably one that's free?

For the few moments I need to upload anything I use the extension fireftp.

Great extension if you use Firefox.

I don't use Firefox but if there's no other choices, I can look into it. Thanks for your suggestion.

See if there are any ftp plugins/extensions for whatever browser you use. If there are, maybe you don´t need a separate ftp program.

Like Thomas, I use the Firefox plugin but if you want a good free FTP client check out WS_FTP LE

Thanks. I actually downloaded one called winscp and it seemed to work ok. It was free and didn't look as if it loaded any spyware.

A few recent problems with Filezilla are discussed by TCH-Dick and a member here. I see that WinSCP are also mentioned in that thread as a good alternative.

Thanks for that link. Now I'm a little worried that some of my passwords could have been compromised.
