Firefox 5.0

Recommended Posts

What does everybody think? I just upgraded and noticed that Google toolbar is not compatible. If you are having this issue you can install the Compatibility Reporter Add-On for FireFox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/). This will enable you to install add-ons that aren't compatible with the new version.

I haven't installed it yet. I have two plugins I use daily that aren't compatible.

Bruce - Use the compatibility I linked to, you should be able to use those plugins :tchrocks:

IMO FireFox has gone down hill the past few years, it feels like what was once the fastest browser is now one of the slowest.

It should be noted that this extension is recommended for alpha and beta users only.

I'm personally on the Aurora channel so using Firefox 6 right now. I am loving the new web dev stuff as well as the new permissions (about:permissions) which function a lot like in Opera. In Firefox 7 (Nightly) it's now a bit like Chrome in that it doesn't show the http:// in the url bar but will show https://.

I finally had upgraded since Norton's plug-in works for this version (but have to wait for future versions). I think it's alright *shrug*. I don't use any of the new stuff though.

Firefox 6 brings some very nice web dev tools and Firefox 7 has some serious improvements to the memory management.

So the faster JavaScript engine and improved memory management in Firefox 7 is not enough to convince you?Not to mention the improved HTML5 and CSS3 support.

I'm running Aurora which is somewhere between a beta and a nightly so is currently Firefox 8. Firefox 7 is released on 27th at which point 8 becomes the beta, 9 becomes Aurora and 10 becomes a nightly.
