Hi,

I already have my private account with TCH but now want to add a Scout group to the TCH server. I am about to buy the starter plan for them but then I get the option of new account or add to my current account.

Considering the scout group is its own thing but I am the one starting this which option is better? Are there any pros cons etc for each?

thanks,

Andy

It sounds like the add to current account would be to have two hosting accounts under one billing account. You can open a help desk ticket to Billing to be sure.

There are just a couple of things to keep in mind with these options:

-Your email address is your username therefore you have to use a unique email address for each Billing account.

-All packages under a Billing account will bill to the same credit card on file, so if you want to use a different card you should create a new account.

-If you ever choose to turn over the account to another member of the group, having a separate account will make the process easier.

I have much the same question. I want to stop using the domain I currently have an account for and begin using a new domain name. Can I overlap them? Should I stop the existing one now, as soon as I have the files backed up? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Beth,

If I understand you correctly, you want to replace the current domain name with a new domain name. Am I correct?

If so, you could register the new domain name now, ask the techs to park it on top of the current domain name and when the current domain name expires people can use the new domain name to access your site.

Hi Thomas!

Thats sort of what I need. The existing account is for my personal domain. It is paid up until September. I would like to just park it with the registrar now. The new domain is not personal, it's for my quilt guild and I'd like to be able to set it up so folks can use it right away.

Does that make sense? I'm fine with letting my personal account expire at the end of August because that time is already paid for. What's most important in all of this is that guild members can use www.bereamillstreamquilters.com and get to our guild site. There are several members who will be helping me with building the site for content, functions, etc. We have our annual quilt show coming up and will be getting some nice press coverage. At the very least I want to be able to give them an e-mail addy from the guild's domain so folks can contact uis and/or be added to our mailing list.

Thanks so much for your help.

Beth

So are you going to eliminate the content of your personal domain? If so, you can still do as Thomas said, park the domain on top of your current domain and have the account re-provisioned which will make it brand spanking new with no content.

Of course you could remove your current content yourself and start new. Having the domain parked on top of your current domain you can email addresses for both domains.

I am going to let the personal domain expire. In six years I haven't done much at all. This new site will be fun and visited often. Maybe I'll do a personal blog, but in the meantime it doesn't make sense to me to keep paying for basically an unused resource.

I'll start new. Before you know it, the ladies of the Berea Mill Stream Quilters will join the 21st century!

Thank you so much for your help. Happy 4th to you and yours from me and mine.

Peace.
