TCH-Thomas Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Firefox 3.5 has been released. Read more / Get it at: mozilla.com/en-US/ Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Maybe this will fix my constant crashing. Thanks Thomas Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 It seems to have fixed my FF´s freezing 20 times a day, so there´s hope Bruce. Quote
youneverknow Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Been using it for awhile in the beta stage and no crashing. Seems to load pages fast too. youneverknow PS: I like your new Avatar Thomas Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Supposedly 2x faster than 3.1 from what I've read. But that remains to be seen. Quote
TCH-Carl Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 firefox... crash ??? mine never crashes. How many addons have you configured ? waiting for ubuntu to push it on their updates. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Carl, I never had any crashes until I completely uninstalled it and reinstalled it because I was having problems getting Flash to work. I still don't think the problem is/was Firefox as much as Adobe Flash 10.` Quote
JTD Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Personally I downgraded back to a earlier version of FF. A lot of the add ons do not work with 3.5 and it is not getting real good reviews from users on the mozilla forums. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Well it still crashes... but I still think it's more of an Adobe problem than Firefox. Quote
Jeren Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I had problems for months with Flash on all browsers. It was very annoying, to say the least. Firefox 3.5 seems to run better for me. I've got roughly 25-30 add-ons installed, and overall, it runs MUCH smoother and faster than before. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Apart from one freeze yesterday, I like 3.5 so far. Quote
JTD Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I will just wait. until the addons I use are updated for 3.5. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 Speaking of addons... I found out that the addons page at mozilla isn´t updated very quickly. I had as most people several addons needing to be updated but the auto update feature told me there were no updates. By going to the authors site for each addon I found there were updates to all my addons needing it. Quote
youneverknow Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I just saw this ....... "Firefox 3.5.1, which Mozilla intends to deliver in mid-to-late July, will include fixes for at least three bugs and "topcrashes," the term the company uses to describe the frequently-reported crashes. Like many applications, Firefox asks users to report crashes by displaying a prompt after the browser goes down." Why do they release an unfinished product? youneverknow Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted July 6, 2009 Author Posted July 6, 2009 Not sure this is a bug or if it´s supposed to do this depending on how the person behind a site has done, but very often when I click a link that is supposed to open in a new tab it opens in a new window instead. all settings in my Firefox says tab so they should open there. It worked fine in 3.0.x. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I finally updated to FireFox 3.5 today, only to be greeted with missing images on every page I loaded. If you run into this problem, here is the fix: "Tools -> Options -> Content -> Colors" check "Allow pages to use their own colors, instead of my selections above" Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Thanks Dick. You got me curious on this since I have this problem but only with one site I visit. I have had this problem for a long long time (since before 3.0, so not a specific 3.5 problem for me), so I checked how my settings were. It turned out that that the setting was already checked and when I unchecked it, all worked fine on the problematic site. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Why do they release an unfinished product? Because its a work in progress and it will never be "finished", they will always be updating it. Quote
