Guest GuestJamesGuest Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Can I run two domains from the same account? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 On the virtual plans you may park as many domains as you want on top of each other, but to use several domains for different content you would need multiple accounts. On a reseller plans this would be allowed. Quote
Guest Jeff Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 On the virtual plans you may park as many domains as you want on top of each other, but to use several domains for different content you would need multiple accounts. On a reseller plans this would be allowed. Say for example you made a sub-domain for different content on your website. What if you purchased a domain to link to that sub-domain? Is that against the rules? In some cases, the reseller packages appear to be total overkill for users who need very basic hosting, but would like to get the most out of their virtual server by hosting multiple websites on it. I recognize this creates a moral hazard because some users might resell their hosting, but is there a way to prove that the hosting is used for personal reasons. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Per our Acceptable Use Policy, You may only host one domain per virtual account; resellers are allowed to host unlimited domains. This policy is not just about reselling, we have a very low limits set on the number of accounts allowed per shared/reseller servers to insure everyone gets the most out of their hosting account. Guest Jeff Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Is it alright to have a tinyurl link directly to a subdomain hosting different content? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 You can have unlimited subdomains to different content so a tinyurl would be the same thing provided it is not linked to another domain name. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 So it's an issue over bandwidth and storage? I'm confused. TCH is a business that provides Budget Hosting, and as a business they need to make a profit. If they allow unlimited domains on one account where is the profit? There are also the issues of additional bandwidth and other resources used on a shared server. Yes everyone wants to get as much as they can out of the money they spend, but $4 a month has little room for profit even with just one domain. Quote
Guest Tim Hock Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Can I create a sub-domain to redesign my site while leaving the main site running until I finish the redesign? They would contain the same content (more or less), but I'd like to totally change the format. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Yes you can do this in a subfolder/subdomain. As I see it, it would be the best way when redesigning. Also, I have removed your second post since it was identical. No need to bump, we do read all posts. Quote
Guest Kathy Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Does your policy allow multiple domains (similar spellings/mis-spellings to cover all the bases) to point back to a single website hosted on TCH? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 On shared hosting, If they point to the same website/content. yes. If you want the domains to pint to different parts of your account, you would need a reseller account.. Quote
glamorouscreations Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 i have the silver hosting package and i have hosted 2 domains on my 1 account, i got rid of the domain i wasnt using long ago and now have another domain for which i will be using alot for my other business but cant figure out how to add it to my account. the site says exisiting domain box it doesnt give option on what my other domain name is. what do i do. i have a support ticket for sales but they dont seen much help lol Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 The Silver hosting plan is a virtual hosting plan which means both domain names must lead to same content, which as I understand this will not do, so you would need 2 plans or one reseller plan. Quote
glamorouscreations Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 so i purchased a nother plan but it said at bottom add to my current account, it wont mess with my other current domain name will it? Quote
TCH-Bala Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 That option is to add it to your current billing account. A new purchase will not tamper with the existing one you have. Quote
