KnitNut Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Hello - I'm new to the forums and to TCH. I am experiencing a very strange issue. I cannot log onto my website (theknittingnut.net) on my computer. Not to the site, cpanel or WordPress dashboard. I use Firefox but I also tried it with IE. HOWEVER, I can log onto the site from my work computer - it just seems to be mine. I've cleared the cache and cookies and still can't get to my site. I'm running a virus scan but I'm pretty sure that's not the issue since I scan daily. I can get to other sites hosted by TCH though so I don't know what the problem is.... Any help/advice is apprecaited! Thanks, Robyn Quote
Head Guru Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 sherlock holmes here..... Your home IP address was blocked in our firewall. Looks like you attempted one to many incorrect FTP logins. I have removed the block and restarted the firewall. You should be good to go. # added 76.20.30.234 on 11/28/08 15:42:01 with comment: {bfd.pure-ftpd} 76.20.30.234 Quote

carbonize Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Just remember that if you are using an FTP client such as FileZilla you must limit it to 2 connections when connecting to TC servers. Quote
OJB Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 This has happened to me twice now. Once from FTP connections and one from CPanel log ins. Can I just ask do the numbers add up over time? If so, are they ever flushed (like on a monthly basis) or do they continuously to add up? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Since that's a server (software) related question the help desk would be able to answer it. But my guess would be it's reset once a valid login is initiated from what ever IP you are using. Quote

If so, are they ever flushed (like on a monthly basis) or do they continuously to add up? They do not add up, as with most firewalls you have to hit a certain amount of failures in a certain time frame. I won't post those numbers but I promise if you trigger a failure today it won't be counted next month. If you are getting blocked constantly, please open a ticket and we can work with you on what is causing the block. Quote
