hoobie
How can I connect a laptop to a server from a remote location without using an analog line or wireless connection? Any ideas?
leezard
There has to be some type of connection to pass data, whether it is a wireless or wired connection.
TCH-JimE
Hi, As leezard said, its the only way, either via a line, or wireless. I am not sure what you have in mind though Jim
Twisted
How can I connect a laptop to a server from a remote location without using an analog line or wireless connection? Any ideas? heh. magic? It simply isn't possible. You have to have one of the 2 types of connections. Either a line connection or a wireless connect.
Lianna
hoobie - Gimme some more detail here of the scenario you invision. For example... I'm out in the wilderness with my cell phone and laptop and want to connect to my server at work. ???? I'm guessing that you refer to wireless as the 802.11b or g 'short-range' wireless and you are looking for something that will work in a more "remote" location? Gimme a bone! TCH-Don
two way Satelite connection?
TCH-Rob
2 way satelite is still wireless. Even telepathy is wireless. It isnt possible to connect a laptop to another computer without the use of wireless or wires. It's like trying to drive a car without letting the tires touch anything. jslagle
drive a car without letting the tires touch anything. When my brother and I were in high school we tried and tried but were never able to keep all four wheels off the ground for more than a few seconds
leezard
lol, me and my best friend built a camaro that did a good job of keeping the front two wheels off the ground
jslagle
they didn't make cameros and firebirds when I was in high school The mustang came out the year before I graduated. This was a 56 chevy coupe with a 389 pontiac block with 3 dueces (HO Tri Power) and a 4.11 rear end. We put the chevy crossed flag 265 emblems on it
TCH-Rob
I suppose with enough thrust and good aerodynamics you could do it for a bit but still, you'd never make your intended destination.

TCH-Dick
turtle beat me to it, and he is right you can use a digital to analog converter to convert the digital signal to something your modem or NIC can understand.
