Usually I can find all my answers in the forums, but having no luck tonight! I want to install the Lazarus guestbook and I have set up the mysql db with the db name/user/pwd and modified the Lazarus supplied config.inc.php script.. now the Lazarus instructions say to upload the entire folder to the "Upload the lazarusgb folder to your Php-Nuke installation's modules directory"..

Where is this? The instructions also state later on to log into the PHP-Nuke admin panel and click on the "modules" icon.. for the life of me I am not seeing this in the PHP Admin..

I am hoping someone here can help me see the light.(maybe Carbonize himself?)

Thanks alot.. I have been a lurker for the 7 years.. great forum, great service, GREAT PEOPLE.. :tchrocks:

Thanks much,

Morgan

Welcome to the forum, Morgan. :tchrocks:

You mention both PHP-Nuke and PHP-Admin, which confuses me. Do you have a PHP-Nuke installation?

If you don´t want to integrate Lazarus into a PHP-Nuke installation, the installation of Lazarus should be simple:

1. Open the configuration file 'config.inc.php' with a text editor and set up your MySQL database settings.

2. Upload the guestbook to your website.

3. Run the install script http://www.******/lazarusgb/install.php and follow the instructions.

4. Give write permissions to certain directories (see more in the "How to install" in the lazarus folder).

5. 5. The default account is:

Username : (mentioned in the "How to install" in the lazarus folder)

Password : (mentioned in the "How to install" in the lazarus folder).

But you can specify different ones in the install process.

6. Delete the install.php file.

PHP-Admin is a whole other thing that you do not need to change/add anything manually while installing Lazarus.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks so much for the reply - I realize now I don't have the php-nuke installation and don't have to follow those instructions..Thanks for the php-admin info...

But where to load the lasarusgb folder to? do I make a lazarus folder on my root directory or do I load it to the php directory or make a lazarus directory under public-html?

I have edited the config script according to the directions and my database settings.. once loaded up, how do I execute it?

Also it mentions in the instructions to make sure I have all the permissions set correctly for the tmp and public folders... I see the tmp folder, but do you by chance know if they are referring to the public-html folder?

I posted here because it looked like the TCH forum family is familiar with Lazarus and thought these questions might be useful to someone else in the future...

Thanks so much Thomas for the help..

I would upload the folder "lazarusgb" as it is, into the public_html directory.

After that you can change the folder name "lazarusgb" to what ever you wish.

In your web browser please go to yourdomain.ext/your_lazarus_folder/install.php (don´t forget to change the part yourdomain.ext/your_lazarus_folder/ the correct)

Once you visit the above url you should be presented with installation instructions.

The folders that needs permissions changed are inside your lazarus folder. Do not change any other tmp folders inside your public_html.
