knate5000 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Hello all, I have a problem on one of my computers. It seems that I have something that is doing JavaScript Injections and changing ad banners and opening new windows. I've installed PC Tools Spyware Doctor and have run it a few times but it doesn't seems to clear everything. I've run HiJack This and here is the log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 10:59:28 AM, on 9/11/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\sched.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avguard.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\AluSchedulerSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\LightScribe\LSSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\pctsAuxs.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\pctsTray.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Shared\hpqwmiex.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\alg.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\hpq\HP Wireless Assistant\HP Wireless Assistant.exe C:\Program Files\Hp\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay\QPService.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\PROGRA~1\HPQ\SHARED\HPQTOA~1.EXE C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avgnt.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Rundll32.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Distillr\acrotray.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\pctsSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\pctsGui.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\update.exe R1 - Let me know if I am correct and how to go about fixing this. Thanks in advance!!! Quote
carbonize Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Yup definately sounds like MyWebSearch. Install something like Spybot or SpywareTerminator and run a scan. They should detect and remove the problem. Obviously spyware doctor's not up to the task. Quote
knate5000 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) Spybot didn't take care of it. Here is what I found out is probably the problem: Virtumonde! <---EVIL! I'm in the middle of using several programs including VundoFix to help remove. We'll see if it works! Edited September 17, 2008 by knate5000 Quote
JTD Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Spybot didn't take care of it. Here is what I found out is probably the problem: Virtumonde! <---EVIL! I'm in the middle of using several programs including VundoFix to help remove. We'll see if it works! Is your version of spybot up to date?? Because I know for a fact that spybot WILL detect and erase all instances of Mywebsearch spyware! Quote
