gregg
Greetings folks! I am currently between jobs so I figured I would make some use of this time hehe. I am currently considering colo in Michigan that would involve game hosting. I seek good bandwidth so I would be looking for anything without Cogent to be specific. If you have colo services could you provide a ping? I'm not concerned too much with line speed as long as I am not below 10Mg. I would actually ping from Equinix since I need a good sample plus I am with RoadRunner at home so I get routed from Livonia to Cinci and back to Detroit (I will not be using this server for those reasons, but I believe there are folks out there that would). Also, you folks have kvm? Whenever I kill a kernel by accident I really need that. Anyhoo, if anyone could help me out it would be totally cool! You can PM me for phone and call me anytime 24/7/364. I can come by in person too so I can have some real pressures put on me and maybe a tour of dc? (w00tles! I have a feeling I'm going to be unemployed until I come to terms that I am not going to find a job in this dang state and look outside). Cheers folks! -Gergg Farmington Hills
Head Guru
Hey, We do offer colocation in our Troy. Michigan facility. Feel free to use this IP for trace and ping's. 208.76.83.49 We offer KVM for rental periods of 4, 8 and 24 hour periods. When you kill your box just contact us and we can get you KVM hooked up. However, if you simply need us to correct small issues, our onsite tech's can help you in short order. We DO have cogent in our mix of bandwidth providers, however it accounts for less then 5% of our traffic. I think that cogent has really got their act together. In the early days Cogent was not something I would We have XO and Level3 as our main providers, and have been VERY pleased with our mix. I live in Oxford which is about 45 minutes from the DC. I am on Charter and ATT DSL connections at home and I see 30ms and 19ms pings respectively. If you would like to arrange a DC tour, please just call my office or cell phone, both listed in my forum signature. I would be more than happy to personally give you the grand tour. Good luck with your search for a colo provider.

gregg
Hiya folks! Thanks for the warm welcome! Seems like I found another community here that is friendly, knowledgeable and super duper local. I actually pinged you from Lakeside and not cbt (equinix) and I'm impressed: skr01:~# ping 208.76.83.49 PING 208.76.83.49 (208.76.83.49) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=1 ttl=55 time=9.46 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=2 ttl=55 time=9.50 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=3 ttl=55 time=9.77 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=4 ttl=55 time=11.4 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=5 ttl=55 time=8.68 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=6 ttl=55 time=9.36 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=7 ttl=55 time=10.1 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=8 ttl=55 time=8.70 ms 64 bytes from 208.76.83.49: icmp_seq=9 ttl=55 time=9.00 ms And my tracroute: skr01:~# traceroute 208.76.83.49 traceroute to 208.76.83.49 (208.76.83.49), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 ip193.67-202-68.static.steadfast.net (67.202.68.193) 0.903 ms 0.946 ms 6.972 ms 2 chi-bb1-link.telia.net (213.248.104.85) 0.960 ms 1.483 ms 0.993 ms 3 4.68.127.133 (4.68.127.133) 1.139 ms level3-ic-122233-chi-bb1.telia.net (213.248.84.54) 0.988 ms 4.68.127.137 (4.68.127.137) 0.987 ms 4 ae-32-52.ebr2.Chicago1.Level3.net (4.68.101.62) 10.480 ms 8.479 ms 0.994 ms 5 ae-8-8.car1.Detroit1.Level3.net (4.69.133.241) 6.991 ms 7.482 ms 6.990 ms 6 ae-11-11.car2.Detroit1.Level3.net (4.69.133.246) 6.989 ms 7.482 ms 6.989 ms 7 WBS-CONNECT.car2.Detroit1.Level3.net (4.79.14.22) 7.990 ms 7.982 ms 7.989 ms 8 pos-3-1.core1.troy2.waveform.net (216.29.182.98) 9.488 ms 8.980 ms 8.987 ms 9 router1.totalchoicenetworks.com (208.79.209.134) 8.488 ms 8.555 ms 8.905 ms 10 dedicated82.tchmachines.com (208.76.83.49) 8.987 ms 9.479 ms 8.987 ms That was actually really close to the route I had in my head and it is a beautiful thing. I dare not post my ping/traceroute from my home no thanks to RoadRunner hehe. There is no fix for that routing due to the obvious. When I find a new job I plan to move so hopefully I will have better options. Actually, I plan on getting both cable and dsl because if I loose internet I loose my mind and I wander around like a blind idiot. I just made a tuition payment for my daughter so it might be a few weeks or a little longer to catch up with all the fun stuff. I'll track you folks down soon. Once again, thanks for the great hospitality. Once I get things going and all is set you folks won't hear from me much unless I'm schooling around the forums reading stuffs. Think of it this way, I actually had one provider call me once to see if I was still alive. Know this, I am definatley interested and will be in contact seeking options regarding types of bandwidth packages you might have and also visit too. Drink your coffee and eat your food. Cheers!
