aaron_ginn 0
If anyone is looking for a good pop-up and banner ad blocker, take a look at Proxomitron. You can download it at: http://www.spamblocked.com/proxomitron/ or from this page with documentation: http://www.sankey.ws/proxomitron.html This is really a proxy for your browser. It's Windows only (sorry Linux and Mac users!) Out of the box it eliminates pop-ups, banner ads, MIDI music on webpages and much, much more! (Geez, I sound like Ron Popeil) Did I mention it's free? This is a sweet little program. You'll need to read the documentation on how to set your browser to point to it. No affiliation. Just a satisfied customer. Digirunt 0
I recently discovered the google toolbar can supress the bodyonunload command within pages and to me these are definately the most annoying popups around.
KevinW 0
I love Google ... I even have it as my home page ... but I have had to uninstall the Google toolbar on several systems, as it caused problems accessing some sites. -kw
SEO 0
... it caused problems accessing some sites. KW, would you elaborate?
TCH-Sales 4
Yeah I heard some people didn't really like the new Google toolbar, KW's reason being one of them. Hence the reason why I'm still using the old Google toolbar.

bonsaimule 0
Promomitron is the best! It has a new, unofficial site: http://proxomitron.info If you're the type that prefers not to expend mental engergy you might instead consider using the similarly free privoxy: http://privoxy.org Mozilla Firebird 0.7 natively blocks popups: http://mozilla.org
stevevan 0
I'm using "Popup-Stopper" from panicware. Even though it's an older version (v2.4) it still does the trick quite nicely!
KevinW 0
My comments in July, 2003 about issues with Google's toolbar seem to be somewhat dated now, as I have been using the 2.0 version of Google's toolbar quite successfully in the past couple of months. And it's free! I usually disable the advanced options once I install it. Check it out at: http://toolbar.google.com/ Re: Proxomitron -- from the information on the web site, the software looks dated, as it does not indicate that it is XP compatible. Also, the web site implies (?) that the software is no longer being maintained. Can anyone clear this up? -kw Edited December 7, 2003 by TCH-Kevin

awdterr 0
Anybody ever try admuncher? I started using it recently on a friend's recommendation. Seems to work pretty good. Written in assembler so it doesn't slow things down at all. www.admuncher.com Only free for 30 days though
schussat 0
Firefox also blocks popups. I haven't seen one in well over a year! Whohoo!

Bunni 0
I use PopThis! on my IE and it's awesome. Firebird does it for me. Lately I've been using Firebird more than IE.
