carbonize Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 For years I have been using AshNews on my site as my blog (I patched the exploit that exists in it) but now the spam is getting annoying. I could write my own anti spam mod for Ash News but don't have the time. Same problem with writing my own. SO I am looking for a GOOD blog script that allows EASY integration into an existing site.Ash News lets me do this by just using a simple php include but no others seem to support this feature. The only one I found is a remote site based one (phpblogmanager) but it is blocked from accessing my FTP by TC's servers. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I'd have a look at Wordpress and then use this Google search to accomplish integration with an existing site. Quote
carbonize Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 I already read up on WordPress and basically to integrate it you have redesign the template to match your site. Quote
MikeJ Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 If you're looking for something simple, then sNews (www.solucija.com/home/snews/) might be something suitable. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I already read up on WordPress and basically to integrate it you have redesign the template to match your site. True but if your site is in PHP it shouldn't be that difficult. Quote
carbonize Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 You'd think so. Started playing last night but some of my classes clash. Will play some more since ths seems to be the only option short of modding ashnews/writing my own. Quote
carbonize Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 Well after trying to customise WP to suit my needs I decided to go back to hunting. I finally found Serendipity which is a fully fledged blog script but allows you to use it via a PHP include call. Quote
abinidi Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 THAT is pretty cool. SO you could place it inside your regular site structure, wherever you wanted.... Hmm... Seems quite useful. THanks, Carbonize. Quote
carbonize Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 Took me a while to figure out how to integrate it as it's not as easy as a simple include call. I wrote a wrapper file following their instructions that I can supply to anyone who wants it with instructions on how to use it. Once I got it working it's pretty nice. Can disable things like archives, calendar etc with ease. I'm in the process of manually transferring some of my old entries across to make the change almost seamless. It also has a load of anti spam features in place. Captcha, askimet, comment moderation and some weird options like only use captcha for comments on posts older than x days. Quote
