Wordpress 2.2 Released

WordPress 2.2 was just released. More info here.

Just did the upgrade, my dashboard is fouled at the moment.

My upgrade went OK. But, it's a pretty small site...really just a test site with only 20 posts, hosted elsewhere on a micro-account. Although, it does have a number of plugins and a non-default, highly modified, theme.

 

Not to be confused with my full awesome MT front-end site hosted with the awesome TCH.

Ok, back to topic now...

 

I upgraded my wp installation today, it went fine, just remember to to follow the instructions found here.

Well, I followed the detailed instructions. Everything went smooth with one glitch. The "Sidebar Widget" plugin will not activate.

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

 

Version 1.2.1.20070210b

 

Suspecting conflict with another plugin, I tried activating first, with no others activated....same result

 

Using Tiga 1.0.2

 

Any ideas before I load the backup and start over?

Mike you may not need the "Sidebar Widgets" any longer as it is built into the new WP.

 

WordPress Widgets allow you to easily rearrange and customize areas of your weblog (usually sidebars) with drag-and-drop simplicity. This functionality was originally available as a plugin Widgets are now included by default in the core code, significantly cleaned up, and enabled for the default themes.

When I tried to reactivate the sidebar widgets, it did not let me. Everything works as before upgrade though.

Thanks for that. You are correct as after the install, under the presentation menu there is a "widget" tab. On my first try the widgets will not move around or change position. I will play around with it and see if I can get it to work for me. Maybe a file permission adjustment?

I'm giving up on the Tiga theme. It broke on my test site. I am so tired of having to redo (or ask for help) the theme files every update. Off to look for a new theme!

It seems as though it was Tiga. I tried another test theme and the widgets work just fine.

I'm still in the 2.0.x codebase, since I still haven't found time to test my site for the upgrade... I'm getting left in the dust. But I hate to break what's working.... Especially when I know I don't have time right now to fix it when (not if) things go wrong.
