dirtvoyles Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Just did the upgrade, my dashboard is fouled at the moment. Quote
DWD Posted May 16, 2007 Author Posted May 16, 2007 My upgrade went OK. But, it's a pretty small site...really just a test site with only 20 posts, hosted elsewhere on a micro-account. Although, it does have a number of plugins and a non-default, highly modified, theme. Not to be confused with my full awesome MT front-end site hosted with the awesome TCH. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Thanks DWD. Thomas awaits Bruces "No, Not again"... Quote
dirtvoyles Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 MT, . Just teasing. Good find on the release. Quote
woodygap Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Thanks DWD. You even beat Thomas to the punch on this one. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 They cheated. They released it when I was asleep. Quote
Bob Crabb Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Thanks for the notice. I just upgraded -- no problems Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 They released it when I was asleep. You're young, you don't need any sleep! Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Beautysleep, my friend...beautysleep. Ok, back to topic now... I upgraded my wp installation today, it went fine, just remember to to follow the instructions found here. Quote
woodygap Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Well, I followed the detailed instructions. Everything went smooth with one glitch. The "Sidebar Widget" plugin will not activate. Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error. Version 1.2.1.20070210b Suspecting conflict with another plugin, I tried activating first, with no others activated....same result Using Tiga 1.0.2 Any ideas before I load the backup and start over? I should have waited until Bruce posted a Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Ok, now you got me worried. I was going to try upgrading tomorrow. I'll let you know if I have any issues. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Mike you may not need the "Sidebar Widgets" any longer as it is built into the new WP. WordPress Widgets allow you to easily rearrange and customize areas of your weblog (usually sidebars) with drag-and-drop simplicity. This functionality was originally available as a plugin Widgets are now included by default in the core code, significantly cleaned up, and enabled for the default themes. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 When I tried to reactivate the sidebar widgets, it did not let me. Everything works as before upgrade though. Quote
woodygap Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Thanks for that. You are correct as after the install, under the presentation menu there is a "widget" tab. On my first try the widgets will not move around or change position. I will play around with it and see if I can get it to work for me. Maybe a file permission adjustment? Thanks again Thomas and Bruce Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I'm giving up on the Tiga theme. It broke on my test site. I am so tired of having to redo (or ask for help) the theme files every update. Off to look for a new theme! Quote
woodygap Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 It seems as though it was Tiga. I tried another test theme and the widgets work just fine. Quote
abinidi Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I'm still in the 2.0.x codebase, since I still haven't found time to test my site for the upgrade... I'm getting left in the dust. But I hate to break what's working.... Especially when I know I don't have time right now to fix it when (not if) things go wrong. Quote
