youneverknow Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 The Motion Picture Association wants to charge you if you show DVD's in your home and have a home theatre. "The MPAA defines a home theater as any home with a television larger than 29" with stereo sound and at least two comfortable chairs, couch, or futon. Anyone with a home theater would need to pay a $50 registration fee with the MPAA or face fines up to $500,000 per movie shown." The full article can be found here... http://www.bbspot.com/News/2006/11/home-th...egulations.html This has got to be the ultimate in home invasion...what do you think? youneverknow Quote
Head Guru Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I have only one thing to say to the MPAA Screw you and your royality rights. /me invites 10 friends over to watch The Matrix on my 70" HDTV. Quote
makaveli Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 that's wrong!!!!! my god, yeah (im not a US person but my guess is the UK will follow suit as they love each other so much) so you want to have fun, you cant, you pay the right to show for home use when you purchase a DVD, just because you have a large tv it doesnt make you a cinema. (unless you charge your friends a few bucks to get in) what next, if your radio is too loud you need a public entertainment license? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 /me invites 10 friends over to watch The Matrix on my 70" HDTV. If you serve popcorn so we get the "true" cinema feeling, count me in. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Wait! makaveli Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 it;s the kind of parody story that kicks up a fuss then said organization say "hey, this is a damn good idea!" such as in the uk, they are (within 25 years) going to have every car GPS fitted so you pay toll as you drive and can be tracked, disgrace! carbonize Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I think they should be less concerned about the size of my TV and more concerned about whats on my computer. Errrr if you work for the MPAA or RIAA ignore the above Quote
DWD Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 There is no bigger ultra conservative big business suck up than my self, Wal-Mart and Big Oil rock, but RIAA/MPAA can go suck it! Quote
