Can't Boot Into Xp Home

I just put a new motherboard in this ol' e-machine. Maybe 4 yrs old (?)

and when the welcome screen comes up I click on the only user and It says I need to

activate windows.

I say OK and a window comes up saying windows is already activated and for me to

click OK to exit.

 

This takes me back to the welcome screen where I can shut down or log on.

Clicking to log on starts the whole vicious circle again.

 

Anybody ever see this happen before? I hope !
