mike Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 (edited) Ok here's a cute one. The lady can't log onto windows ( xp home ) because she forgot her logon password. Anyone know how to get around that? thanks Edited September 29, 2006 by mike Quote
Just_Rob Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Can you get in to the administrator account? There you can reset the password. If not, I have found some ways to try and get around it but I am not sure of the legality of using these methods so I will not mention them here. Do you have any software like ERD? Quote
mike Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 as I said, I can't get by the logon ( to windows ) screen without the password. Don't have Erd Quote
Head Guru Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I have used this method several times for people that have forgotten their admin password. http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ Quote

Don't have Erd Sorry, I misread your first post as she could not log in to "her" user account. I did not know that you did not have the admin password. It matters not now as I think Bill has provided a viable solution Quote
stevesh Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 If you don't get the possibility of logging in as Adminisitrator, boot into Safe Mode (F8 as the computer is booting), and login as Administrator with no password. That'll let you change her local user password. If she has set an Administrator password, Bill's method should work. If not, take a look at this: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/pub0009...icle.asp?ID=305 It's worked for me. Steve Quote
