black cat
Hi All Does anyone know what the IP addresses are for: dns3.totalchoicehosting.com -and- dns4.totalchoicehosting.com Our old host/registrar (Speakeasy.net) has a place to enter the IP address for "A Records"?? I'm not sure what this is, I entered the Ip address for my server (125) but this doesn't seem to be correct. We are pointing our domain to TCH and so far everything works great except incoming mail. I've been able to login to cpanel using our domain name and even FTPd a temporary web site. I can send mail from our new e-mail account but mail sent to that address just bounces back with an error: Permanent Failure: 550-rwcrmhc15.comcast.net_[204.127.192.85]_is_currently_not_permitted_to_relay Delivery last attempted at Thu, 7 Sep 2006 03:14:32 -0000 What can I do? The support at our old host has been so lame! Could it be a Comcast issue? Thanks VERY much for your time!
TCH-Bruce
dns3 = 207.44.236.88 dns4 = 72.9.224.186 Both easily found by running a tracert or pinging the address. Your incoming mail server should be mail.yourTCHdomain.ext
Madmanmcp
It sounds like you may not have authentication turned on in your email program. In Outlook (Express) it is the option My Server Requires Authentication.
black cat
Hi Guys, Thanks for your responses! Alas, I do have SMTP authentication turned on in my mail client and I am using web mail (Horde) to try and retrieve incoming messages from the new e-mail address. When I send an outgoing message to that address through my other TCH account (on server 34) I get the following error when it bounces back, can anyone decipher this ? Thanks agian! This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: test@domainname.com SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<test@domainname.com>: host dns3.totalchoicehosting.com [207.44.236.88]: 550-server34.tchmachines.com [69.50.194.230] is currently not permitted to 550-relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap 550-server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP Authentication turned on 550 in your email client. ------ This is a copy of the message, including all the headers. ------ Return-path: <wawa@domainname.com> Received: from c-67-168-16-43.hsd1.wa.comcast.net ([67.168.16.43] helo=butchie999) by server34.tchmachines.com with esmtpa (Exim 4.52) id 1GLL2d-0007WW-7V for test@domainname.com; Thu, 07 Sep 2006 10:39:43 -0400 From: "Name" <wawa@domainname.com> To: <test@domainname.com> Subject: test Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2006 07:39:46 -0700 Message-ID: <009d01c6d28b$7726dac0$6400a8c0@butchie999> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_009E_01C6D250.CAC802C0" X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook, Build 10.0.6626 Importance: Normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2962 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_009E_01C6D250.CAC802C0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit ------=_NextPart_000_009E_01C6D250.CAC802C0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"> <TITLE>Message</TITLE> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2900.2963" name=3DGENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY> <DIV> </DIV></BODY></HTML> ------=_NextPart_000_009E_01C6D250.CAC802C0--
