Scenario:

 

Government site with weekly uploads consisting of minutes from various committees (MS Word files).

 

Is .pdf the way to go? I want quick and easy. Actually, I would love them to do it in-house but it would have to be very cookbook.

Personally, I'd use .pdf every time.

 

But it does depend how many people are producing the minutes etc. If it's lots of folk then you don't want to get them all trained in producing .pdf files.

 

You can automate the production of the .pdf files, with batch processing, so that if you get a bunch of word docs you can just leave the computer to it.

My idea would be a form where the info could be pasted into a large text field and uploaded to a databse.

 

The database could be backed up daily on auto pilot and .pdf could be generated on the fly right from the web. Info pulled out of database and dynamically pumped into pdf document upon clicking a link.

 

This would totally free you from 'work'.
