QueenTiye
Here's the deal: I'm interested in transferring my website to a reliable host. My current host is really killing my site with the inordinate amount of downtime. However, I'm running into a few glitches, so I ask your indulgence while I explain myself: 1. My web site is built using phpWebSite, which my host had preinstalled on their cPanel (Fantastico?) platform. I also have a forum on a subdomain. That forum is built using SMF (Simple Machines Forums), which was also preinstalled on the cPanel (Fantastico). I do NOT want to change the forum at ALL -I just want to move it from one host's server to another host's server. If at all possible, I don't want to have to rebuild the site, either. Is it possible to move these sites and have them hosted on Total Choice? Does Total Choice have people who know how to do that, or can tell me what to do, even for a fee? 2. If it is NOT possible, what are my options? QT
TCH-Thomas
Welcome to the forum, QueenTiye. Both phpWebsite and SMF can be run on the TCH servers. We have several members using SMF and I have seen posts about people using phpwebsite as well. As for the transfer, since your current host have cpanel, you can always ask our help desk if they can do a cpanel to cpanel transfer. QueenTiye
"cpanel to cpanel transfer" That's music to my ears. That's like... an entire symphony! LOL! For someone as completely tech UNsavvy as me, that language made so much sense... Thank you, Thomas! Is there an extra fee for the cpanel to cpanel transfer? TCH-Thomas
No. All it takes is a help desk ticket after you purchased your hosting. Link on top of page and in my signature.
TCH-Don
Welcome to the forum, QueenTiye. We also have fantastico and of course this very helpful user forum if you need any help.

QueenTiye
Shouting! (And thanks for the welcome!) I paid yesterday for hosting... and am waiting for my setup email??? Um - is it because it was a Sunday that I've not heard anything yet? QT
TCH-Tim
Probably. Billing doesn't work on Sundays, and all orders are verified over the phone to sort out the spammers, so Mondays are usually a little backed up. I'm sure they'll get you sorted soon enough. Also, just in case your account has already been activated, make sure the email didn't land in your junk mail box or something.
QueenTiye
There isn't any possibility of the email being in my spam box, so I just haven't gotten it yet. I'm not home during the day, so if they called my phone number they didn't get me (and I forgot to check the voice messages). Is that what's going on - they're calling homes? TCH-Thomas
You could try submitting a ticket giving them an alternative number (cellphone or work etc).

QT I actually called them when I setup my hosting plan. I orderd late Sat and was very anxious waiting by the phone then relized the billing dept is probly closed sat and sun... so early morning monday I called the billing dept and did my phone verification that way instead of waiting. Not sure if this is proper, but like I said.. I was extreamly anxious to start working on my site hehehe the folks at the billing dept were very friendly and helpful.
