TCWriter Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 With the help of Fantastico (and this support forum), I've got my WordPress Blog site up and humming along. Now I'm looking for an easy-to-use photo solution that will put automatically generate thumbnails on a page of my WP site, and throw up full size images when clicked. Do any of the three photo/gallery solutions on Fantastico fit this description? Keep in mind I'm willing to tinker a bit, but when it comes to code, I'm in deep do-do.... BTW - I found that very simple WP plugin that creates a gallery from the WP-uploads folder, and it doesn't look like what I need. Not enough power... Thanks in advance for any suggestions... Quote

I'm kinda looking for the same thing. I'm willing to accept a standalone gallery as well. Not trying to steal your thread, just looking for something similar. Quote
chatbug Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 I don't use galleries myself, but quite a number of people seem to recommend Coppermine. You can install it via fantastico. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 To show galleries in wp I believe you would need something like Gallery embedded. However, the above script is to use with Gallery and not Coppermine, but if you google wp + coppermine, you will find solutions for that combination too. But the gallery script is much easier to work with in wp in my opinion. Quote

I've noticed a few posts that suggest Coppermine can be a little tough to set up. I fear "tough" when it comes to this stuff. I'll look into it! TC Quote

A separate page would probably work well and be easier to set up (and easy is good). Thanks! Quote
surefire Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 I don't have the link in front of me... but look for a plugin called "Lightbox". It's a port of a very well known Web 2.0 image viewer. It is not a full blown gallery, but you should also be aware that Wordpress 2.0+ creates thumbnails automatically. In my opinion, Lightbox might be just what the Dr. ordered. Quote
Russ Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 (edited) If you decide to embed Gallery into WP, make sure you follow these steps for configuring your rewrite rule....otherwise it will not work correctly. Edited May 23, 2006 by Russ Quote
