kfordham281
I have two blogs at different domains and recently upgraded to WP2.x on one of them and got permalinks to work very easily (I tried permalinks before on the blog and couldn't get it to work). I'm going to change to permalinks on my other blog but want to know how it will affect my rss. This blog is a little more important so I want to make sure I've done everything correctly. I currently have a few subscribers (maybe 10) and I don't want to break rss so they aren't getting the updated posts. Any help is much appreciated. abinidi
My guess is that your RSS feed should still function normally. (I'm not quite sure what you mean by "breaking" the RSS feed. I mean, the links will change, but the feed should be updated with the changes.) However, I've found that when the question is application specific, such as in this case, usually I can get more comprehensive and authoratative answers in the application's support forums (in this case at wordpress.org/support) Good luck! abinidi
Oh, and the old non-permalink style links will still pull up content. (Maybe that is what you are asking.) If you have permalinks enabled and somebody clicks an old, non-permalink style link, they will still get the post page with the correct post. Hope that helps. TCH-Tim
If your concern is that your feed will no longer be updated, don't worry about it, it will still work fine. If your concern is that the URL will change, I think it does, but I'm not 100% on that. Worst case scenario is that your 10 subscribers realize their feeds aren't getting updated and they visit your site to see what's wrong and just resubscribe. I vote just do it. And then let us know how it went.
kfordham281
I checked the wordpress support forum but couldn't find anything real relevant so I thought I'd try here. Basically the RSS link would change from: http://www.cpadventures.com/blog/?feed=rss2 to http://www.cpadventures.com/blog/feed I'm doing a test on my other blog to see if both feeds work on that one. Sounds like they both might still work.
chatbug
Both links will work. Permalinks are just a user-friendly way of showing the links. The "normal" less-user-friendly links will still work.
abinidi
On my wordpress account with permalinks enabled, I can get the feed with the ?feed=rss2 url. So it looks like it doesn't break the feed. New users would use the new URL. Old users's URL should continue to work.
TCH-Tim
New users would use the new URL. Old users's URL should continue to work. That's what I meant to say. *TCH-Tim is a little out of it today

kfordham281
Worked great! While I was at it I changed to using feedburner too. Combine that with using feeddigest on the homepage and that's a lot of blog changes in the last 24 hours!
