musicfrisk Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I'd like to combine the feel and rss features of example site 1 and the audio features of http://www.audioacrobat.com/ What blog software does example site #1 use? How does one customize a high tough soft feel like that? How do you sign up for and then add all of the rss feeds? What else should I be considering? ALSO I need to build a simple website... has anyone used anything easy and high end looking? Drupal? Mamboserver? Other things? Thanks in advance. Quote
TCH-Tim Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 What blog software does example site #1 use? WordPressHow does one customize a high tough soft feel like that? You can customize WordPress however you want. It helps to be familiar with HTML and PHP. If you are not, and it needs to be "high end," consider hiring a designer. How do you sign up for and then add all of the rss feeds?WordPress creates feeds automatically. I need to build a simple website...has anyone used anything easy and high end looking? Drupal? Mamboserver? Other things? It really depends what you want the website to do. WordPress can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be, and it can look as "low end" or "high end" as you are willing to make it look. Quote

surefire Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 He really did. Wordpress is the canvass and the paint. What you do with it is up to you. If you're just getting into web design for the first time, that probably means either buying a template or paying someone to make one for you. Quote
chatbug Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Yes, indeed. I find WordPress really easy to manage. If you don't like the default theme, you can easily replace it with one of the many themes out there. If you want a specially designed theme, you can do it yourself, or hire someone to do it for you. What do you guys find to be some of the more valuable plugins? There are tons out there! I care about distribution, linking, idexing in pod cast search engines and rss primarily. I can't seem to find a site that organizes bother ratings of usefulness stability and quantity of downloads. Thanks for your thoughts. Edited May 6, 2006 by musicfrisk Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 One place I find usefull is http://wp-plugins.net/. While it may not have their lists rated, it is well organised. Apart from that, I use google to what find I need (try search for "wordpress plugin podcast indexing" for exampe, without the "), then I am trying what I find and if it doesnt do what I want, I just try google again. chatbug Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Yup, wp-plugins.net is quite useful... and definitely checkout the plugin maker's page to look at the comments. I think it's a good idea to blog surf as well, some people list what plugins they use for their blog. Quote
