NedWreck 0
I was using a DNS thinger mentioned here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...showtopic=26165 One of the rating things took ten points off for not having www in front of my url. Why doesn't it? What difference does it make? I can put www in front of my url and it takes me there anyway. It also said I was missing a lot of "glue". That's a new one on me, what's glue? TCH-JimE 0
Hello, Its strange that it does, but I would not be worried. It may be possably because all addresses should start WWW but as age and technology grows, life has come to accept that not all addresses will start WWW. I know mine does not. I would not be worried about missing glue. Glue is another way of basically saying some points to something else (e.g. glued together). If your worried, start a support ticket and point out that you would like your domain name checked over for any missing "glue". You can even reference this thread if you want, they will be instantly be able to see if any problems exist (but I doubt it very much!) JimE
NedWreck 0
Nah, no worries. My site loads fine, everything works great. I did a little searching ON the www and you'd be suprised how many URLs don't really have the www in them. On a similar note, Microsoft scored an underachieving "B" http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnstime.ch?n...soft.com&type=A While the mighty TCH scored an A+. TCH WINS AGAIN!!!! Way to go, y'all! http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnstime.ch?n...ting.com&type=A Bob Edited March 20, 2006 by NedWreck
TCH-Bruce 16
You should be able to access your site with or without the www. If you can't, please open a ticket with the help desk and ask the techs to look into it.
Deverill 0
One thing, off topic a bit, about the WWW or not is that it may make a difference in search engines. If you always use WWW or always leave it off then you're fine. If you use it sometimes and don't use it at others then you may lose some points with the search engines. This applies to links to your site from others or any links within your site that use the full site name. It's a small thing but I thought I'd mention it.
jayson 0
I entered in my URL as just "jaysarahandy.com" (with out quotes) and this is what popped up in the address bar: http://jaysarahandy.com/ No WWW in from for the domain name just my 2 cents worth
abinidi 1
Well, your site is still displayed. If you wanted your site to ALWAYS show up in the www subdomain, then you would need to modify your htaccess file. I think the point above was that your site is configured to work both with and without the www subdomain as part of your main site's url.
TCH-Thomas 25
For what it´s worth, here is an article that explains pretty good what www is/does.
TCH-JimE 0
Its not normal to access a subdomain as www so in my own opinion, I would leave this out JimE
