leezard Posted June 22, 2003 Author Posted June 22, 2003 Mad!!! Head Bash Man sometimes I hate GIANT companies like SWBell. When I lost my job with them I was told by the Union steward to do things a certain way so that I would be elligeable for rehire. I followed the unions instructions to the letter. I go to SWBells hiring thing last week and they tell me I'm not eligeable for rehire because I was fired. I wasnt fired, I resigned, but apparently my resignation letter was never turned in by my manager that I gave it to so that have me listed as "no call, no show" which means I just quit coming to work one day, so they wont rehire me. I contacted the Union, they cant do anything since noone has the resignation letter I turned in. /rude SWBell Mad!!! Mad!!! Mad!!! Quote
borfast Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 What if you ask your ex-manager to talk to the big bosses? Maybe he could explain it to them... Quote
leezard Posted June 22, 2003 Author Posted June 22, 2003 I already tried and so did the union rep, management isnt Union so i think it's just a cop out saying the paperwork was lost Quote
Lianna Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 leezard, I know that these words will be of no consolation right now, but all things come with purpose. Good things will come of this unfortunate situation. An opportunity will come that wasn't expected or wouldn't have come if you were working for that company. It may not be evident right away, but it will someday. A sample lucky break that I got: Wanted to buy a house, put a contract on it, got overbid and lost the house. Sad then and was really upset, but... The financing I was going to use would have required that I live in that house for at least 9 years before selling (no renting it out either). 6 months later, I met up with my now husband and moved 100 miles away.... Imagine if I'd been stuck in that house. Hold your head up. Know that your integrity is valuable. Quote
TCH-Sales Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Yeah leezard, don't get too down in the dumps.. lets not even bring up how long I was unemployed before the Head Guru saw potential written all over me.. Quote
greatfolios sysop Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 You'll do just fine, don't sweat it! Thumbs Up (Good luck!) Mr. Bill Quote
leezard Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 I'm not to bummed, SWBell is still paying my unemployment, I'm just going stir crazy. i have worked in the tech field in some form or fashion for over 10 years, but i live in a technological wasteland (i live in an oilfield town) and with 3 crushed vertabrae in my back oilfield work just wont do. Thats why i got into computers in the first place. oh well, enough about me.....how bout them cowboys??!!...errrr somethin? Quote
imadsurfer Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Well....gotta give you credit for trying to find something positive....I mean.....go cowboys? LOL But I do know what you're going through, because I recently got the raw end of the deal in something like that myself. And to top it, I've been unemployed for 3 mos. and still not getting unemployment. I have to fight with them some more tomorrow......Geez...sorry....didn't mean to jump into my woes..... Anyway, hang in there. I'm sure something will come up soon. It's always when things look the darkest that a little light goes a long way! ImaD Quote
