Cutenews "client-ip" Php Code Injection Vulnerability

Recommended Posts

Secunia writes:

rgod has discovered a vulnerability in CuteNews, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

Input passed to the "Client-IP" HTTP header when adding a comment isn't properly sanitised before being stored in the file "data/flood.db.php" inside the web root. This can be exploited to inject and execute arbitrary PHP code.

Successful exploitation requires that support for ".htaccess" files is disabled.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.4.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Enable support for ".htaccess" files.

Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
