Obviously alarms are going off in my head: pirated software?, scam?, etc. Does anyone have experience buying Adobe software at steep (90%?) discounts? Should I proceed with caution, or stay away? I have seen some of these sites selling Adobe products at deep discounts, and if you look at the fine print you find out that what they are actually selling is a "back-up copy" of the program and that you should have your own license. Why don't the Computer and Software stores in my area just buy from these same places, add 20-30% and resell them to the public? I bet they could sell 5 times as much as they do the Original package they are selling. Maybe because its illegal??? Quote

"Purple Rain" was $0.83 If it seems too good to be true then it isn't true. (I'll relay my experiences with a money order scammer when it is over - I'm trying to get law enforcement involved before I lose them - I'm not sending money and they will lose interest soon so the L.E folks need to jump on it if they want to. "Purple Rain" was $0.83 For over a year, I have used a site that is something.RU for my mp3 downloads. Paid via credit card and each song is about 10 cents if you get an album. Strange offerings, not the usual fare. But no peer to peer sharing involved. Strictly pay to download. When I registered, I thought I was on a British site but turned out not. So far, I have had no issues, and my CC number has not been not stolen or used fraudulently.... Now you have me worried. Maybe I will get that one replaced....(Which one did I use?) As to the Adobe cheap product....stay away. Those sites have been written up for a long time as offering stolen or counterfeit copies of the software. Easily identifiable by the fact that it is CD only, no manuals, or the manuals are photocopies/pdf only. And I have also seen the fine print on other sites that you must have your own license that the software is a "backup" copy. Quote

So far, I have had no issues Yes, you are paying to download, you are not paying for the "rights" to have or play the music you download. The place you download from probably did not get permission to sell the songs nor are they paying anyone any royalties...thats why they can sell them so cheap. And you may be lucky and have "no issues", or the RIAA could crack down, get your IP, and send you a $3000 nastygram. The government should require labels on the sites, "Use at your own risk" Quote

I don't have an mp3 player and the mp3s I have on the computer are from my own cd collection so I don't have to constantly change cds when I want to listen to them. I truly thought I was using legit service but now you make me question that too! Why did I login today???? Quote
