Hi,

I just signed up for hosting with TCH and one of the dialog boxes said:

"I will update my nameserver only."

Can someone please tell me what that means - and how do I do it?

The following may be an inappropriate question - if so, I apologize.

I'm considering an Echo merchant account because they offer:

1. $99 sign-up fee

2. $19.95 a month which includes merchant account and payment gateway

3. No monthly payments for months with no sales

4. Discount rate: 2.25%

5. Transaction fee: 0.30 cents

By comparison with other options, they seem to be the best choice but, I'd love to hear your opinions.

Please feel free to boot this question if it doesn't belong here - although I'm sure it's of interest to other web-business beginners.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Michael M.

Hi Michael,

If you purchased the domain through TCH your domain servers will be set up for you.

If you purchased your domain somewhere else you will need to update the DNS name servers with the ones listed in your welcome email.

Thanks Bruce and Rob,

The domain name was bought elsewhere. I guess I'll wait until I get the welcome email and post again if I still don't understand what I need to do.

You're right, Rob - number 3 was the one that attracted me too. I haven't seen that anywhere else.

Regards,

Michael,

How it works is that you will get your welcome letter. In it will be the name servers you will need to use to point your domain to your hosting account. What you will then do is log into the place where you bought your domain and set the name servers there to reflect those that we sent you. After that it can take up to 72 hours to propagate across the Internet and your name will begin to resolve to your account here.

Those look like excellent numbers on the Merchant Account. I've never seen one which didn't charge you for months with no sales. One caveat from my experience - be sure whatever shopping cart you're going to use has a module that's compatible with your specific payment gateway.
