Has anyone had this problem lately?

I can log into 2 accounts in squirrelmail and see that I have emails.

But when OUTLOOK checks, it does not download anything. I sent myself a test email today and it is there on the account but when Outlook checks....NOTHING. I don't get an error. :pissed:

Outlook appears to be connecting to each account, downloading from my ISP, then moving on to the next account on my website, then moving on to the next account on my website, etc. Checking each off as complete, but not finding anything on my website addresses, as though it found nothing

I used to be able to check emails through Outlook and have made no changes to that program or my spamkiller (other than weekly updates of spam definitions).

I opened a help ticket but didn't know if someone else had a similar experience lately. My isp is EARTHLINK (technically converted Mindspring account).

On a help ticket, I was asked to recreate the email account.

Did that and now get errors and can not connect. 3 email accounts (use 2 on daily basis) and none send/receive.

Keep getting asked for password over and over.... Tried setting to outgoing port 26 and still error.

Sent image of errors to help desk and the passwords necessary to get into the accounts.

Here's a shot of the page when I try to send/receive.

It was working fine. Have NO IDEA why it is acting the way it is!

I have

- reset passwords in cpanel and in Outlook

- deleted and recreated the samisite email accounts in Outlook

- forwarded all emails from the squirrelmail screen to my ISP email address then deleted them from that account

- made new test emails. Sent email using the webmaster address to

1) the webmaster address: it can be seen at squirrelmail but will not pull into outlook.

2) excite.com (to another account I have) it showed up just fine, but reply email to webmaster address gets stuck on server, never coming in.

The address SENDS but does NOT RECEIVE.

Tried it in OUTLOOK EXPRESS and yes, it will send and receive with that address through my TCH web host account.

But I do NOT want to use two email programs, one for ISP emails and one for WEBSITE emails! I like using my calendar, and task list inside Outlook.

NOW WHAT SHOULD I DO?????? Any suggestions for an email program that won't just stop working out of the blue, for no good reason, and still offer the other options that I like to use??? Or do I just need to upgrade my Outlook 2002 to a newer version?

I really hate to pay for another copy of outlook unless I know for sure it will resolve the problem. Otherwise I will be out some money and still not be able to send/receive emails from my own website!

Until this last week I was able to send/receive fine from my website addresses. Nothing changed on computer except that suddenly I can only send and not receive from any email address associated with my website. :(

Could I be on some spam list or something? (If that were the case I probably wouldn't be able to use Outlook Express either! :pissed: )

The problem is likely Outlook. I had a similar problem where my ISP account in Outlook became corrupted. I did end up upgrading and it worked fine but I have since changed to Thunderbird and was able to import all my old messages into it.

But thunderbird doesn't have all the calendar, reminder, task lists, etc that outlook has. Did you also have version 2002?

TCH-RICK you are the MAN! Thank you for not giving up on this!

(He's been working with me on a help ticket behind the scenes!)

I WORKED OUT THE ANSWER TO THIS WACKY PROBLEM! :flex:

I read in a support group that Outlook tries to connect to all email servers at one time and that can cause conflicts. They did not have an answer to the problem, just knew what the problem was.

WELL...if you accept that, then the idea is to slow down those connections, make it one or two at a time so they do not conflict with each other!

If you choose CTRL ALT S it opens a SEND AND RECEIVE dialog box. You can define groups of emails to be checked. I split my 4 samisite addresses off into separate send and receive groups, split my ISP and put Hotmail into its own.

Now I can choose to send and receive only one group at at time. And now they ALL send and receive!

2nd bonus: A while back I put in a help ticket because intermittent non-connection to my emails. Thought it was a server issue. No problem was found. But I now believe that Outlook caused its own problem by trying to connect too many times to the same server at the same time!

Because you did not just push me away with "it's not my problem attitude", along with the growing frustration, I had hope!

Thank you. :pissed: Thank you. :( Thank you. :clapping:

Glad you got it working!  And since it's a Microsoft product, it's not "problem", it's an "undocumented feature".

LOL....

Must be why my fifteen accounts sometime sporadically fail to connect.

Exactly the same intermittant problem I was having for a long time until the program finally just decided that I couldn't receive from those accounts anymore.
