abinidi
I'm curious to know how other TCH customers (like myself) found TCH for the first time. What is your TCH-find story? I'll start: I had my domain hosted elsewhere, and one of my co-workers came seeking advice on creating a personal website. I told him how I had done mine. A couple of weeks later, he came back and said he had signed up for service with TCH, and he thought I should check it out. I came to the TCH website, saw the prices, features, and service, and joined right away! I've never looked back.
stevevan
Found it on a hosting comparison site. As my former host had shut my web site down without even as much as an email, I was desparate. TCH had the right price and features and the most "bang for the buck". As previously stated, I haven't looked back. Too bad...I guess their stuck with me! MikeJ
Google. Search for a software problem I was having brought me to these forums (and a solution to my problem). (yes, I was a customer before I started doing any work for TCH).
TCH-Rob
I was workng for the now largest registrar when a customer told me to look here. I have been here since.
marie b.
My boyfriend was a Bloghosts refugee, and I was getting sick of feeling guilty being hosted for free by a friend. The prices are fantastic (but not free, therefore no guilt or gimmicks), so I switched over.
TCH-Thomas
TCH-Don told me about it and since I was hosted by one of those that put banners and popups on your site, why not give it a try. That was back in april-may 2003 and I´m not going nowhere.
carbonize
I was performing a Google search for "advanced guestbook" carbonize and found a thread on here about my image verification mod. I then passed TC onto a friend who was looking for hosting. About a month later I was having serious problems with my hosts (Carpathia) as they were claiming I had used 60GB of bandwidth in an hour even though they admit that their connection could not handle that so I came here and signed up for a silver package which is cheaper than Carpathia and offers me more. cajunman4life
To be honest, I don't recall how I got here. I'd imagine it was through a Google search for "cheap hosting". Anyways, I'm here to stay!
TCH-Andy
I found TotalChoice Hosting via google. I was looking for hosting, and found there was a really wide choice. Hence I defined some criteria for defining what I thought a good host would be for me - open, honest, inexpensive, excellent value for money, approachable / friendly, support available in the middle of the night US time. It didn't take me long to narrow the list down a lot, and found that TCH answered all my points - so I gave it a try. I've never regreted that decision
jslagle
TCH-Don told me about it and since I was hosted by one of those that put banners and popups on your site, why not give it a try. That was back in april-may 2003 and I´m not going nowhere. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I got here about the same way. KevinW recommended TCH on another board, I think the same place Thomas got the info from TCH-Don.
bellringr
I was sick of popups and wanted my own domain name so I asked on my EverQuest guild boards for ideas. Turns out the guild board was (and is) hosted by TCH and the owner pointed me to TCH's site. Almost a year and a half later and I have no complaints. curtis
I also got here by way of that board. KevinW(KW) and Lianna pointed me to TCH in Feb. 2003. The first time to come to this forum and seeing KW and Lianna as mod's and the famous Turtle being here also I had to give it a try.
TCH-Rick
The owner at my previous host died and the quality of service went downhill rapidly. In a moment of weakness I signed up for a plan with a company that spammed me. They were offering a lot of disk space and bandwidth for about double what I was paying for 50 megs of space. In the two weeks I was there the site was down more than it was up. Before moving again I searched findmyhosting.com and found this place. I managed to get a refund at the other place after a couple of weeks of emailing. That was two and a half years ago. Been here ever since. TCH-Bruce
The owners of the previous host sold out and service went out the window. I googled for a new host and found TCH. I never looked back. I even had the company I work for move their hosting here. I've recommended TCH to everyone I know looking for a reliable host.
wampthing
My office "Tech Guy" uses TCH and suggested I give it a try. He said the forums were great and the support was second to none. He also promised that TCH would help me regrow my hair. Man! Talk about false advertisement! (At least it wasn't as bad as when he sold me a 3 year supply of "Rogaine Bodywash")
LeeGoldsmith
I discovered TCH from people on two help sites for CuteSiteBuilder. After having looked at many other hosting sites it was obvious that TCH had the best price and options. Now that I have hosted my site here for a year I am even more supprised by the help and friendlyness of all the TCH users and staff. This was the right choice and I am hocked for life. Madmanmcp
As most others have mentioned...googled. We came out with a large selection and narrowed it down to 3 companies. We turned the pages over shuffled them and picked TCH. So far it seems the better company did win.
andypeat
Not sure how I found it. I had another company in mind at the time but thought I'd take one more look around. So happy, happy happy happy. (anyone seen Zoolander?) No turning back now.
Deverill
Had a terrible host that was down often so I googled and found findmyhosting.com and started reading customer comments. There were the normal "I love TCH" ones, which I was skeptical of, but then there were the ones crying that they had been unfairly terminated. What sold me was when I started reading the replies from the owner like Let me see if I understand you correct. You host a illegal site on our servers that sells counterfit ID cards and we are the bad guys? and a few more like it. I thought to myself, this guy is real and honest and has character. With great hosting services and low prices, how could I go wrong? I came to the forums and was instantly sold.

jwbowden
I found TCH while looking through some host comparison sites. The prices were outstanding but it was my glimpse into these forums that convinced me to move. I had tried another host but things kept mysteriously happening to my file system - finally in exasperation I went shopping for a new home. Previous to that I had a room full of computer equipment and hosted my own site. After a few years I decided to divest myself of all that computer stuff and lighten up a bit. I really like it here. Gail
I didn't have a big problem with my previous hosting company but I wasn't totally satisfied either. Their support Forum was almost non-existent. I knew my 'renewal time' was nearing in a couple of months so I went to 'findmyhosting.com' and I found TCH. I think what really sold me on TCH was: 1) the Family Forum - I couldn't believe how active and helpful the Forum was (and still is) 2) the style of Bill and the rest of the team - I like a management style where people are open and honest and aren't afraid to say what has to be said when the need arises. I am definitely glad I found TCH. Gail
sardaukar
I was absolutely new to web-hosting and had my site migrating from one free-host to another. Yet my friend told me that TCH is the best. This friend checked the forums (I think WebHosting Talk) and said TCH offers the best when thinking about price/what you get. offtopic: I am 90% satisfied with the TCH and when posting in the forums, I put TCH in the first place. Head Guru
I wanted to reply to this post and simply thank everyone for their business and for the support, and referrals that everyone makes for us. Now how about me telling the story of how TCH came to light? That would be a interesting, fun and long thread. Seriously thank you for all you do, without the client base we would not be where we are today.
Samrc
Count me in the referred from that CSB board. KevinW(KW), Lianna, Turtle, and Curtis kept talking the place up so had to check it out. Moved my personal site, then a few months later moved a business site too. BEST decision for both I could have made. I work on clients sites on several other hosts and TCH beats them hands down! Never been tempted to switch and always recommend TCH and its forums.
Minkoff
I was hosted for free by someone who was selling a reseller package from here, but they seemed to vanish of the face of the internet, and since I really liked their server, I did a whois on their domain and found TCH. I've been considering it for a long time, and am probably going to become a customer within the next few days.
Sarah Ross
It took me ages through reading reviews to find this place, but I am so glad I did. This place has a great customer satisfaction level, which I am very happy with. Though sadly, I will be switching hosts soon, due to huge bandwidth needs that TCH does not offer, I have set up many of my web design clients here and they love it, so in a way, I guess I will still be family. However, I will still recommend people here and I have doubts that my new host will have as greater level of customer support and satisfaction. TheMovieman
5 years ago I started my movie review site with a free service where you didn't have to have any knowledge of HTML coding. It was great for a while as it was unlimited space and all that but then (like the other WYSIWYG) they started charging. At first it was ok, a bit on the spendy side but unless I was willing to give up my site, I had no choice. Then the cost came to nearly $100 / yr (no domain name, 15 GB of bandwidth and 100 MB of disk space)... Anyways, I learned how to write HTML and PHP code and converted all my pages (wouldn't be able to take 'em with me) and found TCH and am glad I did! cajunman4life
You know, I didn't give a long enough answer, lol, so allow me to start again. To give you a little background, I have 5 servers in my bedroom alone, on a custom-built shelf. Gets kinda noisy and warm, but only between 2 and 3 are up all the time. I had been hosting my own site, and it worked out wonderfully because my storage space was limited only by how many drives I could shove into my servers. But I wanted my own domain name for my site, and considered purchasing a domain name through no-ip.com (whom I use for my dynamic dns services), but thought I would go "legit" and talked with my cable company. To have a static IP (13 to be exact), domain, and 4gb down/512mb up bandwidth, would cost me $79/month. While that really isn't much, it was to me at the time. When I stumbled across TCH on a google search, and saw the prices, I was sold. A quick peek at the forums, and I knew this company was "legit" (unlike some other hosts I had found, which didn't even have an email address to contact them at). So I bought my domain, purchased my plan, and away I went. I still run all those servers, but now it's more or less a "test bed" before I install stuff (forums, etc) on to my TCH account. Plus, I'm a Linux geek so it's fun to mess around with them. Now if I could only get OpenSolaris to compile... Oh yea, and if anyone wants to see what I mean about the servers, I have some pictures about a few months old located here. Now how about me telling the story of how TCH came to light? That would be a interesting, fun and long thread. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bill, I don't know about anyone else, but I personally would love to hear TCH's story. If you've got the time... I've got an ear to lend.
Tailspin
I have been hosting month to month for years with another provider and was looking for a place to settle down. Someone on a local tech forum in Sydney mentioned how cheap TCH were...and after a little digging I also saw how good you were! So I bit the bullet and pitched my tent here..even though I live in Australia. So much more functionality than where I was before also. I'm very happy. Ninepatch
I was looking for my very first host with little to no personal website experience. I use dogpile.com for searches - that took me to findmyhost.com. I spent 2 nights reading and comparing. Service and support were my primary criteria and I allowed for a wide spectrum of fees to get what I wanted. When I came to the TCH site and found every question I had answered, and the amazing family forums, I knew this was the best choice for me irrespective of price - which turned out to be unbelievably good. Haven't regretted it once and recommend TCH as often as the subject comes up in conversation. Edited August 4, 2005 by Ninepatch
perfectdreams
A friend of mine actually referred me. She was raving on and on about it. The prices are wonderful, and you don't get treated like a moron if you have no clue what you're doing. They also keep their promise about the uptime. I love it here. Depco
It's been a while now but my previous host was sold then sold again and they were in sad shape. Had to reconfigure my form-to-mail several times, email was down a lot, blah, blah, blah. I also needed lots more space than they offered so I searched in Google or Yahoo and found TCH as a highly ranked company.
AlanV
I was hosted by Pinchpenny, and the quality of service was declining (after they switched owners), so I decided to switch webhosts. Looked through findmyhosting, found a thread about TCH, read some reviews. The prices were better than what I was already paying, and I figured service couldn't get any worse, so I switched over. Havn't regretted it, especially when my old host died and a bunch of people I knew lost their entire website.

jhollin1138
I worked for a small company as the Engineering Manager and IT/Resident Computer guy. Since we were small, about 15 employees and our site is pretty basic, the hosting package that was included with or Boardband ISP was perfect. They decided, without as much as a warning decided to stop hosting. I was desperate for a new host. Posted on a forum I used to frequent, and one of the members told me about TCH. I did some comparison I can't remember what site I used and couldn't believe what I could get with TCH for the money. I signed up for year on the silver package. About I month later, the site owner of another forum I visit decided to close the forum. He asked if someone was interested to host the forum, to let him know and he would provide the forum back-up file. I had been thinking of signing myself up with a hosting company and get off my ISP's hosting site. So I decided to sign myself up with TCH and host the forum. I have since renewed both hostings for another year. I have referred a few efreinds to TCH for hosting. For the price/what you get, TCH is great! BoogieMan
I forgot on which virtual hosting Index & discuss forum I found TCH, I just noticed the comments about TCH were positive, and I found TCH's plan economical, and it's everage down-time is very low, so I decided to have a try, and try, and try. from Aug. 2003 and now, I've own 3 plans on TCH. And in this month, I decide to become its reseller
