gary8744 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Like most everyone, my domain email boxes are getting pounded with SPAM Mail. I am using Spam Assasin which can be really good once you get it configured right. I am dumping all my SPAM into a seperate mailbox. My users can opt look at it just to make sure it didn't catch anything they might have needed. I am trying to find a way to automatically delete email (off the server) over X days old from this box. CPanel has an Aging feature which sounds like it will do what I want, but TCH does not impliment it. Does anyone know of a third party app that might do what I want to do? I appreciate the help!! TCH-Bruce Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 If you use Thunderbird to pop the box you can elect to leave messages on the server for a certain number of days. Maybe that will do it for you. Quote
Deverill Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 I forward most of my email to a (free) Gmail account and let it filter the spam and they automatically delete spam after a certain number of days (I forget exactly how many - I think it's 30.) With Spam Assassin marking it Spam I'm thinking Gmail gets some help but even things that slip past SA are caught by Gmail so I believe them to have a good filter system and it's trainable too... you can say "this is spam" or "this is not spam" and they adjust their filters to your say-so. I don't know if it's a solution that will work for you but thought I'd mention it. The only other thing I can think of is that, as Bruce mentioned, email clients can manipulate email, deleting some and leaving others, via POP or IMAP so if you get one with good filtering abilities you could possibly make something that would work like that. Don't give up yet... others may have a great idea they will post soon. Quote
stevesh Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I'm probably in the minority on this, but I have SpamAssassin blackhole everything it sees as spam (I have it set to 4), and if one of my (60 or so) users doesn't receive an email he/she is expecting, we figure out why on a case-by-case basis. It doesn't happen often, and none of us has time to wade through the thousands of pieces of junk to find one legit message. Steve Quote

I don't have the time to wade through all the junk for a single legit email. I don't have my Spam Assassin turned down that low, I have mine set at 6. Quote
stevesh Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I have one domain set at 1, with a couple of domains whitelisted, and still get some spam. Quote
