Pendragon Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 In the process of updating my store script, I've come to see that I am going to be rewriting or editing about 90% of it to make the changes, upgrades and add the features I have been meaning to add since I first wrote it. So, what I am looking for are any suggestions that someone might have. I already know what *I* want in it, but what would you want in a store script from either a buyer or sellers perspective. All comments welcome, you can see my current script at http://www.thehomeforums.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi Note that I no longer sell products, I originaly wrote the script for one of my other websites that I no longer use, but I've been wanting to update it anyone, as I may want to use it again in the future. Pendragon Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 As a buyer, I would like to see a prettier website. The tables used for the shopping cart are too bland. Spice it up a bit with nice borders and colors using css. Thats pretty much it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One of the major changes I am doing is making all the display text customizable using templates, so listings, product, shopping cart, everything can be easily edited, as it was all hard coded into the store originally. Never been one on fancy graphics, guess I am still stuck in 'dial up' mode even after being on cable for years. I can't even imagine how slow some of the sites I've visited would be on dial on they are so graphic intensive! I do need to change up the colors in the tables though. Quote
carbonize Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 You don't need to be graphics heavy to be fancy. You can achieve a good looking site using CSS. Also remember that for things like gradients and blocks of colour you really only need a pixel wide image and so a small file size. Quote
