bostondave Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Hello all- I recently acquired a blackberry, and want to set up my personal email to forward to the device. I want to whitelist certain emails, though, so I don't get all of my mailing lists and ticketmaster emails, and stuff like that, on the blackberry. The blackberry service works by POPing the messages from TCH -> t-mobile's servers, then i get the messages on my device from t-mobile's servers. The solution I came up with was to create a seperate email account on my domain at TCH, then forward all the whitelisted emails to that account, while also keeping a copy in my main account. Is this possible? I couldn't figure out how to do it... If none of that made sense, I can try to explain it again in more detail Thanks, -Dave Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Don't think that's possible Dave. By default an email forward sends a copy of all email directed to that email address to the forwarded address. That being said, there is no reason you can't set up another email account for yourself to use specifically for the BlackBerry and forward that to your regular account. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 HI Dave, The only other thing I can think of is adding a filter (or set of filters) where the sender contains a whitelist email, it sends it to a specific email account. I think you would also have to set up a forward on this account to send a copy to your main account - although without tyesting it, I'm not sure if you would end up in a loop here Quote
annie Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 I had a similar setup a long time ago. The most effective solution is to use two e-mail addresses. One for lists, one for personal. Quote
bostondave Posted March 27, 2005 Author Posted March 27, 2005 Thanks for the suggestions, but none of them accomplish exactly what I'm looking for. I would like to whitelist only certain people, without them having to remember to send to a different address. Will TCH mail servers read a .forward file if I create one in cpanel? I believe that I can create the functionality that I need by using a .forward file. Thanks, -Dave Quote
