When I had a different webhost we had horde webmail (only) - you would enter your user name (user name only, NOT blank@whatever.com) and then you'd be in! Check mail and get out. Now the process is such a pain that people who used to use my site for email have gone other places because it's such a hassle. Especially with dialup it's hard for people to have to go through numerous screens to get to their mail.

I'm not trying to bag on TCH, because I believe they offer great service and it's probably a bonus for some people to have a choice of which kind of webmail service they wish to use - but I think it would benefit ALL of us if NEOMail was done away with. This would do away with the need to login twice and should also do away with having to enter your entire email address to login as well as the screen where you have to choose which program you want.

Do you agree with me?

Well as a fellow dial-up 56k wiz, I got to say even though it might be a little slower to click through to where you want to go, but I like having the variety to pick to use one or the other. It's like somedays you might want Chinese food, and another day you might want Mexican.. <_<

So just in my personal opinion, I'm all for the "choice" in total choice hosting. :D

There's a simple work around if you know which program you want to use. Set up a subdomain to point directly to the email login page you want :D Choose from your options below, and then in cpanel create a a subdomain (such as webmail.yoursite.com) to point to the prefered email interface.

Here are the important urls to remember (replacing yoursite.com with your actual domain name)

If I recall the initial setup correctly, http://www.yoursite.com/webmail points to http://www.yoursite.com:2095/, which is the insecure login. You can also reach the secure login at https://www.yoursite.com:2096/, but I have found that I get a warning because my domain name isn't the one that's certified.

If you want to link directly to horde, you can do so via http://yoursite.com:2095/horde/index.php or the secure server https://yoursite.com:2096/horde/index.php. The same holds true for neomail at http://www.yoursite.com:2095/neomail/neomail.pl and https://www.yoursite.com:2096/neomail/neomail.pl

I like that TCH offers us the choice, but once I made my choice, I preferred one-click convenience.

A few months back there was a thread with a script that I have used that simplifies logging into webmail. It uses horde and eliminates the need to add the @yourdomain portion. You still have to click a second screen but it is filled in for you. The last post in the thread is a cleaned up version of the original script. I set up a subdomain and copied the script to am index.html file there. You can edit the code and make it match the rest of your site.

The thread can be found here.

Thanks Rickvz and sour-lime - your suggestions were great! I have added the script from the thread that Rickvz suggested. One guy had a great page that I copied and changed to suit my own needs: http://www.irricomp.com/imail.htm

It's cool to have your own customizable login page too.

I would like to make the curser go automatically to the "User ID" box and would also like "enter" to work instead of having to click the "login" button. Anyone know how to write that script?

Thanks for everyone's input!
