Email Fowarding And Virtual Addresses

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to setup "virtual email addresses" through cPanel? I am webmaster for a domain hosted by TCH, and I need to setup a number of virtual addresses to protect private email accounts. :D

For example, mail sent to "info@<****>" will go to my personal email account ("name@****"). ;)

Also, the virtual address may forward to several personal email addresses - there are several people who want to receive the mail sent to "info@****."

Can you accomplish this through the mail Fowarder feature in cPanel? If not, what other route do I take to accomplish this?

I currently have info@domain.com going to both admin@domain.com and tim@domain.com. I set up two seperate forwards in cPanel. info@domain.com to admin@domain.com and info@domain.com to tim@domain.com. Someone here might have a better way, but this way seems to work for me.

 Welcome to the Family Dave

and your new home!

Tim is right, thats the way to do it.

You can do the same for a form

forward the form recipient name to many departments

so all get a copy of a submitted form.

We really are like family here.

So if you need anything,

just ask your new family!

We love to help :D

Thanks all for your replies, and the nice welcome.

So, it would appear then that I can use a make-believe (virtual) address...

as in "<some virtual name>@****" and forward it to a real address...

as in "<real address name>@****" through the forwarding feature in cPanel. :clapping:

I also appreciate the suggestion about directing form output to multiple addresses, as this could save having to build lots and lots of forwarding rules. I use a contact form on my site designed by thesitewizard and I'll look into how to do multiple output directs. :thumbup1:

Thanks again!

Yes, I use the feature to subscribe to things all the time. When I start getting spam to that email address I remove the forward and I'm done.

You may want to look into Ultimate Form Mailer
