tmccartney66
I've installed Advanced Guestbook and have it running at http://www.amysedaris.com/guestbook . I don't like the little "Thank you for stopping by my site. Here you can leave your mark" thing at the top of the page, but I've searched through all the templates and php and can't find it to get rid of it. Does anyone know where it is? Also, when I get into the template editing form, a little red message tells me to "Give write permissions to the webserver on the template files!" So when chmodding those files, is the "webserver" the owner, group or public? In other words, what should my permissions be? Thanks, Tracey P.S. By the way, e-mail notification of replies doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?
TCH-Don
The permissions need to be 777 while you are making changes using the admin page. I downloaded the whole guestbook folder and use a text editor and ftp to make changes so I don't have to remember to put the permiossions back. As to the message see this post

icode
I have similar problem with permissions. I CHMODED the whole templates directory to 777 but if I try to make a change to a template I get the following messages: Warning: fopen(./templates/admin_enter.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/sweeps/public_html/guestbook/lib/admin.class.php on line 193 Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/sweeps/public_html/guestbook/lib/admin.class.php on line 194 Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/sweeps/public_html/guestbook/lib/admin.class.php on line 200 I chmoded using my FTP client. Should I do it some other way?
TCH-Don
I think you need to change the permissions for the template file itself not the folder. When editing you should see the filename the guestbook is trying to change near the top.

That worked. Now my next question is I want to replace the graphic that says "Guestbook". Do you know how to replace that (which template)? Thanks again! Guest Serpentine
It is in /templates/body.php It is called gbook.gif. You can either change it to what you want or call yours gbook.gif and overwrite it in the /img folder.

carbonize
I've installed Advanced Guestbook and have it running at http://www.amysedaris.com/guestbook . Does anyone know where it is? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Advanced Guestbook is designed to be user friendly. It's so friendly in fact that 99% of the text you see is stored in the language file you are using, in your case english.php. This is found in the lang directory/folder.
