Hmmm, got anything to do with server 69 by any chance? Processor is spiking, if I read the page right.

Hopefully you'll find the errant script or whatever it is. Hopefully it isn't one of mine...

Dials...BR549...hello...hello...anyone home?

To Thomas and any other's who may not be familiar with "down-home Americana" :) there was a television program that started in 1969 called "Hee-Haw" that was a country-music-and-more type of comedy-ish show. It was good clean fun but it used the stereotypical hillbilly as a basis for the program. They were in a place called Kornfield Kounty (undoubtedly in my home state of Kentucky :)) and added a lot of things to our collective awareness.

There was one recurring scene where a used car salesman named Junior Samples of "Samples Sales" would go out and try to sell his old clunker cars. His phone number was BR-549 and it just stuck in everyone's head. When telephones were relatively new the phone numbers were not as they are now, all nice 10 digit numbers you have to write down to remember. They could do a whole town in just 999 numbers or less so the phones would be SM-231 or BR-549 which means the number is 549 and BR is the town identifier - maybe a down named "Bradenton" or something. Ah, for the old days. :notworthy:

Anyway, that's probably more than anyone wanted to hear about it but I find it interesting when everyone my age-ish in the US knows exactly what BR-549 is but then we go into the global arena and lose some of our family members who scratch their heads and say "huh?"

The best part of this whole story is that I had a good friend in southern Indiana named Steve Samples - who was a used car salesman - who everyone called Junior - who was overweight - who was a bit, shall we say "backwoodsish" - who had on his business card BR-549. Life imitating art or art imitating life?

Cool story!

Hee Haw was an american icon. Show ran from June 15, 1969 - 1993 on

CBS & as a Syndicated Variety series. AMAZING run for slapstick foolish humor! :notworthy: :)

Here's a couple of favorite ditties from the show that are still remembered well...

Where oh where are you tonight?

Why did you leave me here all alone?

I searched the world over and I thought I'd found true love.

But you met another and PTHHP! you was gone.

and

Gloom, despair and agony on me

Deep, dark depression

Excessive misery

If it weren't for bad luck

I'd have no luck at all

Gloom, despair and agony on me

The second one is my favorite when my computer is acting up!

Bill's original post that started this thread with the comic style grumbling made me think of this song.

I purposely changed it to the ??? ....not an oops.

This week I have been fighting MAJOR headaches and really find it hard to think or reason when my right eye won't focus and feels like it will pop out at any time. Thought it was almost gone, but woke up this morning with it just as strong as ever. Got too much to do to dope myself up and go to bed. So until I get full reasoning back, my avitar will reflect my thumping head. (new idea for avitar...maybe I should take an image of myself and morph it to make my head pound)

FYI...Also changed my signature....

Hope you feel better soon Sami.

I remember when Hee Haw was first aired.

We ran it on tape on saturday nights at 7 pm.

And everyone in the control room stopped to watch the first few shows.

We are a jaded lot and seldom watch what we air,

so you can tell it was different :lol2:

updated avitar...head is feeling better enough that we went christmas light wandering for a while tonight. :) Took this photo tonight...Santa on a bike under a palm tree....just looked like Florida should!

Glad to see you're feeling better :) Nice pic too!

...will the board ever learn the exact reason that caused this thread to be opened? Will John divorce Mary? Will Mary wed Fido? This answer to these and other equally dumb questions tomorrow or, um.. maybe another day...gee, I dunno
