I have been using my microsoft built-in FTP server in Canada for so long without a problem for people to access both from Canada and Hong Kong. Recently, I have created an account for my friend in England and starting to have problem....

First, all of them are using CuteFTP to upload/download

My friends in Hong Kong can upload/download without any hassle

My friend in England can only download and not upload....

(She has tried all the settings and various version of CuteFTP but still haven't got any success)

STATUS:) Requested action not taken (e.g., file or directory not found, no access).

COMMAND:) CWD /files

500 '/FILES': command not understood

ERROR:) Syntax error, command unrecognized.

500 'IC': command not understood

ERROR:) Trashed response received.

==============================================

Oh well....

I also have tried to build a seperate site for her using Serv-U with port 1021

And she can't even list the files and not to mention any upload/download

COMMAND:) LIST

150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.

ERROR:) Timeout (30000 ms) occurred on accepting data connection from server.

426 Data connection closed, transfer aborted.

ERROR:) Trashed response received.

That's even worst.... isn't it?

Some people say that it could be the internet connection difference between the two countries which I really doubt.....

But what else can be wrong?

Can anybody give me a direction to start? :)

(by the way.... she can FTP to other sites but not mine..... however, they are all linux servers)

If it works for one person but not another,

is has to be the settings used by the first person

Is this an account on our servers?

if so you can open a help ticket to have the techs look at your account.

Thanks so much for assistance....

After going through numerous tests, I have found out she could only connect to my server using PASSIVE mode and not ACTIVE mode which other users can....

Strange. But at least have the problem solved. ;)
