The Progression Of A Cat

Alright, so about nine months ago, my family was "adopted" by this cat in the neighborhood... It came up to our garage one night when the door was open, and we pet it a little bit. Throughout the next couple weeks it got braver and braver, and we eventually ended up feeding it. It moved to our porch to hang out soon after.

Well, from thereon out this cat resided on our porch. We made a bed for it and started to feed and water it regularly (Grew like a tree! ;)). Basically, it had become our outside cat.

We would have brought Gracie (Her name) in, except that we already had an inside cat, Ivy, that my stepmother perceived would tear the other cat to pieces if we brought it inside.

So finally yesterday they decide to introduce Gracie to the house and to keep her inside. Without asking me (Although it is fine by me anyway), they decided my room would be the launching point for this whole thing... She's gotten to know my room, and last night, her first night in the house, she slept at the foot of my bed all night.

It was cool. :D She's still a little skiddish though. We think she may have been somewhat abused before she came walking around, because she's extremely cautious (Even now, inside my room), but she's been getting better since she's come by.

So I have a new resident cat in my room. :)

My cat adopted me/us too. Came to the house limping with an infected leg from a fight (better lover than fighter). Took him to the vet, got him "fixed", a week in the garage with twice daily antibiotics and he was ours. Then moved him to the city and made him an inside cat who sleeps 23 1/2 hours a day. But, now he's finally earning his keep...got a one year old chasing him around.

Cool...two females too, so you don't have to worry about them gettin pregnant. :D Alot of cats are skiddish...so it probably doesn't necessarily mean she's been abused. But it sounds like she wasn't taken care of before you took her in, so she may have to get used to humans somewhat. My cat's never been abused (although he abuses me plenty ;) ) but he won't let anybody outside of the family near him. When he hears the doorbell he runs like somebody shot at him. :)

Sounds like Gracie found a nice home. ;)

Yours too, huh? :D Our Ramses used to be so loveable to everyone when he was little, but I guess we didn't have company for a long time and he's just a total pansy now. He'll tear us up if we try to bring him down when others are here. hehe He has some siamese in him (he's also a loudmouth) so we figure that has something to do with it.

Cleo used to be ultra-friendly until one of hubby's (ex) friends treated her like crap when he was down. :) I told him to keep his hands off my cat. He's also not welcome back in my house. But now she is also skittish, although after a while her insatiable curiosity gets the better of her and she'll have to scope everyone out. ;)

I have three....the oldest chose me, the middle one adopted my tree (I came with it and finally got her to accept being inside) and the youngest (as a kitten) met my oldest and immediately decided to stay. They are best friends even with the 12 years apart in ages.

All three are cuddlers, love to be talked to and petted.

The oldest (Spaz) is the boldest, wanting to see everyone, meet everyone when they come into the house. Not that she wants everyone to pet her...NO. She is selective on that but definitely wants to see everything and smell everyone. When I have had work done she plops down nearby to watch everything! And often comments if people ask her what she thinks, even doing an Elvis sneer when she is unimpressed. I enjoy her. She is very special.

One of my cats growls at the door when someone knocks on it...just like a dog but much quieter. Then she stares at the door, like she's going to EAT who ever is behind it. But as soon as you are within one foot of opening the door, she runs and hides.

The other cat was my husband's before we met. After I moved in she hated me. She hated me for about 8 years, then about 2 years ago she decided I was ok, and I could stay.

Great video!

My current avatar is my oldest cat Spaz caught in the act of making her SNAKE FACE (mouth open head turning side to side to look impressive) while growling. This was a playful shoot.

But when she is in a cranky mood, she acts the same as the Siamese in your video.
