TCH-Thomas
XP service pack 2 is supposed to show up here in Sweden tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips that I should think about when installing it? Edited September 13, 2004 by Jikrantz
Deverill
As with any non-trivial upgrade, make backups. I'm not sure about the Sweedish version but I've not heard any problems with the upgrade that were reliable. When you run the upgrade, don't run anything else so the computer can put all of it's power to the upgrade. You'll want to make sure you have some free space too because it will want to backup some of the files in the system now.
youneverknow
Also people are saying that you should run Adaware and Spybot to check for malware and the like before installing sp2. I took about 50 minutes on my 1000 mhz system to load sp2. http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ both are free for personal use. mvpzone
Hi Some Tips, based on my experiences Take an inventory of your drivers (based on your peripherals) to see if they have any updates for xp sp2. I did run into an issue with my display driver. Next though it might seem a bit boring read the article at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/sp2_whattoknow.mspx Good luck... puneetworld
with regards to XP2 i think only issue i have is it limits the no of connection to 10, [ the aim was to prevent worm etc and spreding virus etc ] BuT also it has slowed down the P2P because in XP1 there was no limit to number of connection. because soon after installation i started to face problem downloading torrents file the Time now had increased which i feel is bad news and also i am facing compatibility Problems with many games and Softwares I think SOon there Should Be tips and updates to overcomes these i suppose
kevan_j
While I would not necessarily recommend this, there is a patch to change the connection limit at h**p://www.lvllord.de/ . It patches Windows system files (tcpip.sys), so should be used with EXTREME CAUTION. Personally, I WILL NOT be applying this patch to my systems. but if you are heavily into P2P it may help...
