jandafields
I ordered a domain name at 2:25pm I changed the nameservers to totalchoicehosting at 2:26pm I tried to access the website on the internet at 2:27pm IT WAS ALREADY WORKING THROUGH TCH!!! How can that be? It has always taken many hours for the nameservers to finally change and for the new domain's dns propagation... This was a matter of seconds or less! TCH-Bruce
It may be working for you, but for the rest of the world it may take up to 72 hours. Post an address and we can check from different locations.

hindixp
Hi, that has happened with me 2-3 times, but not every time. Recently i buyed a domain from GDad.... and it was also an instant DNS updatation however i didn't checked it from different countries. but mails were also working so seemed exciting..... Normally DNS propogations take 24-48 hours and sometimes upto72 Hrs to complete. anyway Life is full of surprises.
MikeJ
How can that be? It has always taken many hours for the nameservers to finally change and for the new domain's dns propagation... Different TLD's (Top Level Domains) have different policies for updates. Register a .com, typically it'll not take effect until that night. Register a .us, for example, and it'll be updated in the registry immediately. TCH-Thomas
Is there somewhere we can read about those policies? It would be nice to know how fast/slow se domains are.
MikeJ
You would likely have to check with the origanization responsible for the registry of the TLD you want (http://www.iis.se/ for .se), although I'm not sure many publically list their update schedules. You can find all of the organizations for the different registries at IANA (http://www.iana.org). I just know some of update schedules from experience. jandafields
This was a .INFO domain by the way. It must be one of those quick ones like .US like MikeJ talked about.
AlanV
Mine is a .org and it propogated within 5 minutes for me when I transferred here. TCH is just good luck
