  1. Strange...never heard of that. I have all static IP's on my network (laptop, 3 Windoze desktops, and a Linux desktop) also running on a WRT54G, v6. I can run Echolink from either a Windoze machine or Linux and have no problem. If you find a solution, let us know. This sounds like one I'd like to file away in my "Things To Remember" folder.

    Oh...and welcome to the forums!

  2. Hmmmm...interesting! If *nux servers will continue to support it, this might work for some people who either don't have or won't take the time to learn HTML. But, as far as I'm concerned, a good way to help one LEARN HTML. As you stated, different strokes for different folks!

  3. The Nvu software Bruce recommended is a bit like Frontpage. But the biggest advantage...it's FREE! I have used the Coffee Cup software in the past, but wasn't too impressed with it. Put a small investment in a book called "HTML for Dummies". I have several of the "...for Dummies" books that I STILL refer to for information. They are easy to read and make the subject matter easy to understand and retain.

If all else fails, remember you have a large family here at TCH. We all had to start at the bottom at one time!

  4. The best advice I could offer is what every webmaster learns from a situation such as yours (myself included)...make your own backups! While your web host (not only TCH, but others) might have backups, if it's really critical, at times like this, you are your own best friend!

The TCH guru's might be able to get something from a past server back up. If not, see if you might have some residual work left over on your computer. That way, you won't have to rebuild it all from scratch.
