Oooh boy. Messin' with the registry. Hmm? Sounds like a place I shouldn't go.
Only as an absolute LAST resort. Follow Thomas' suggestion first and let's exhaust all other possibilities.

Way to go guys! Yet another stunning example of why I don't plan on going anywhere else!

If you wish, you can take a "test drive" of many CMS's out ther from this page.

Technically, phpbb was never "supported" by TCH. It was only provided as an easy install with family members to help out if they could. You can still use it. Just remember, as with any other script (whether or not it is provided by fantastico) it's up to the individual user to keep the script updated.

Welcome to the forums! As Thomas said, cpanel-to-cpanel is quite easy. There may be a short wait while the new IP address propagates, tho. Make sure you make backups of your data first!

XAMPP is the way to go. You can even install it on a USB "thumb" drive (if the drive is large enough, that is).

Are you 100% sure there is no space or extra bit in your password?
Also, make sure you are using the correct upper or lower case letters.

Never had a need to use it. MySQL does just fine for me. What is it you are trying to do?

You might want to try these Lithium batteries. I had some in a 2-way radio I used at work and they lasted almost 2 whole weeks with pretty regular use each day (and that's 10 hours per day, 5 days each week)! That's also why they are now part of my ham radio emergency kit!

The others are correct...fantastico is really helpful on install. Since you said you are relatively new to website creation, I would strongly encourage you to read the documentation on whichever CMS you decide to go with. Having dabbled in drupal, and a few others (and now sticking with Joomla), I will say there is a bit of a learning curve. BUT...there are many helpful family members who will be glad to lend a helping hand PLUS a lot of resources out on the 'net. And once you get it, you'll be surprised how easy things become!

For batteries, check out the Lithium batteries usually found by the digital cameras (Engerizer E2 - silver/blue in color). They last much longer than regular batteries in devices such as that. For electronic devices like my MP3 player, portable radios, hand held ham radios, they have become a standard part of my hurricane kit.

Having come from a "Free" host to TCH, I can tell you it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Been here over 3 years and have not regretted it at all. If Bravenet is using CPanel, then it's super easy. Even if they're not, the tech's here are wizards and can hook you up with minimal effort.
From what you describe, it may very well be hotlinking. Of course, there may be other reasons too (spammers using your site, outdated scripts that someone has gotten into, etc.). If you could ever hear back from Bravenet, you could ask their techs about the problem. And if that EVER happend here, all it would take is a ticket to the help desk to find out.
Good luck in your search and I hope you end up here with TCH.
And where are my manners? Welcome to the forums!

While I always feel that redoing a site is an absolute last resort, you might want to check out the e-commerce offerings through fantastico. Many of our family members use them, so there would be a lot of help available for the asking.

I haven't bought one yet either (believe it or not!), but I would suggest writing your list down (in case you haven't already). That way, you're covered in a worst-case scenario.
