Given that I'm about to put this into Lazarus are there any known issues with this? Does it only work on Apache for instance?
-
You're right that he missed out the comma but according to the PHP specs there is no space between -f and the email address. >mail('xxx@xxxxx.com','Test Email',$Message,$headers, '-femail@address.com');
-
I've been reading this thread with interest and am going to slap this bit of code into the next release of Lazarus. So just to confirm after all the other headers you just use -femail@address.com with no space ? Naturally with a new line between the previous header and the -f.

Personally I still recommend using a anti spam program hosted on your own machine instead of a remotely hosted one. This gives you more control over it. I was using Spamihilator but Windows Mail, the email client on Vista, has a junk mail filter built in. Unfortunately it relies on definitions of spam from Microsoft and cannot be trained. Spamihilator was catching about 99% of all the spam I was receiving. Hmm maybe someone should write a tutorial on how to make your own form mail script. All you'd need is a downloadable file containing the functions for checking email address etc and sending the actual emails. Then you just have to explain how to create the form, Actually probably not that easy going off the last one I made.

They have said they intend to make this part of the admin in SMF 2 but thats months off even being in beta so for now just follow the advice from the link Bruce posted.

Trust me they haven't got a clue. They have added my domain to the banned list because they are nice like that. Once they banned paypal but not ebay but now paypal is available again. As to finding another job I am trying. I'm a web developer by hobby but the trouble over here is employers want a certificate or years of experience before they will believe you are capable of doing the job. I've already had several American friends tell me I'd be able to get a job in the States without any problems.

The hosts file is locked otherwise I would. Anyway this would be good practise for my Javascript skills I suppose.
-
Well I've looked at writing an extension myself. The Javascript for what I want to do is simple. Just a case of looping through all tags in the page and checking for the src attribute then using regex to change the domain. It's the rest of it that's hard to grasp.
-
Unfortunately it's Smoothwall and it's hosted in our head office around 300 miles away. As weird as it sounds this site has a 2Mb cable connection that is used to set up a VPN with the head office and from there we have internet connection. Odds are I'll end up having to learn how Firefox add ons work and write my own. I can't see it being that hard since add ons can be written using javascript and I just want to change the domain to an ip.

Ok my problem is this. My wonderful employer is using a proxy to stop all non essential browsing. Fair enough no problems there. The problem is the administrator is useless and is just using the default banned domains list. The problem is this includes all of Yahoo's yimg.com servers. This means I cannot use any Yahoo services as Yahoo, for some strange reason, has chosen to host all its CSS and Javascript on it's yimg servers. So what I am after is an extension for Firefox that will automatically convert requests for things like us.js2.yimg.com into their ip which is 204.245.162.17 since I can access the servers that way. I know I could just use a web proxy but I don't trust logging in on them.

I tried Expressions as a beta and it's CSS hover support in the live preview was none existent. This made it hard to check any CSS hover effects of the pages I was making. As said above try Nvu as it's free or KompoZer which is a spin off of Nvu that apparently fixes several bugs.

Nero is bloated these days. I recently started playing with free DVD burning software. CDBurnerXP hasn't been updated since 2004 so doesn't work on Vista but apparently they have a new version out soon. I currently use Free Easy CD DVD Burner but it's not without it's bugs. Like getting the file size wrong when making discs. Anyway the best free one I have found is ImgBurn. I was surprised to find that it not only burnt any type of disc image but also let you create discs on the fly. Damn powerful as well.

Ok we agree then in our own unique ways. Speaking of stupid tests this is funny www.physorg.com/news94144625.html - iPods have a significant effect on driver performance

I agree for most it will be best to wait for more support. I'm only using Vista because I managed to delete my active partition thereby screwing up XP. I then thought it would be a good time to give Vista a try (my thirty day trial just seems to be going on and on and on ...). My machine is an old eMachines with 3.12Ghz chip and 1GB of memory which is all more than enough for Vista. The only place I fall flat is my graphics which is the Intel Xtreme chip. My PC only has three PCI slots so so I cannot even get a decent graphics card with Vista support. My next machine will be a 64 bit machine, more than likely dual core, and will obviously come with Vista (Home Premium as Home Basic sucks). But my previous comment was just pointing out the stupidity of all the people going on about how XP is faster than Vista. "My old software that has less features and thereby uses less resources is faster than your new program that has more features and thereby uses more resources". Office 98 is faster than Office XP but I bet most people are using a version later than 98.
-
I'm going to guess XP but if we're going to use that logic then we would all still be using Windows 98. I bet people did the same tests and said the same things when XP came out. "Oh Windows 2000 is faster on my machine than XP". The same argument applies to web design/coding. You support older browsers and dial up connections but at some point you have to say "No, I'm not going to make sure my page looks right in Netscape 4". Damn them Linux adverts are funny.
-
And I was just commenting on the stupidity of the I'm a mac, I'm a PC adverts. I'm not a flame sort of person. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. Same with Xbox 360 and PS3.
-
Ah yes the I'm a mac adverts. The ones where they make out that Windows is only for office stuff like spreadsheets. Hmm how many games are there for a mac and how many for Windows?

Actually I've seen the program running and it's so simple it's scary. It will even make the email account for you on places like mail.ru. You then just load a list of URLs (grabbed from google usually) and leave it to it. Here is the video of it in action www.botmaster.net/movies/XFull.htm the site belonging to the moron that made it.

.doc File Has Become .odt File W/adobe Icon - Why?
carbonize replied to Mrs. Muddled's topic in Software Talk
Or you could of just opened OpenOffice writer and dragged the ODT document onto it to open it then pressed F12 to save it as something else and changed the file type in there to .doc -
Vista really comes into it's own on 64 bit machines. The 64 bit version of Vista requires that all drivers must be signed (like secure websites have certificates). This stops things like root kits being possible. A root kit is where a program is running on your machine but is hidden from Windows. It also has other security in place which stopped programs monitoring net traffic at the driver level and this is what companies like Symantec were complaining about. So basically if you have a powerful 64 bit machine then I highly recommend Vista.

Most major forums captcha has been cracked. I have seen a program at work which not only registers an account on a list of forums it even checks the email address supplied for validation emails and activates the accounts. This is why I stopped using phpBB and now use SMF with a custom captcha instead of the one they supply.

My sites an eclectic mix of things that have interested me over the years. I have a pretty good amount of traffic. I found having an interesting site with something people want to share is a good way of getting visitors. In my sites case I have found it's the adult smileys for Yahoo messenger that generated the most traffic and gets linked to the most. Also you need to redesign the site every year or so to keep it interesting for regular visitors.

Why not use FTP ?

I checked the review of my site and all is green. I then checked a friends site (yahelite.org) and he had been given a bad review by someone who runs the site of a rival program and is constantly causing trouble. I emailed McAfee explaining about this and even offering then proof that this guy is just against us but they basically said thanks for reporting it but tough. I mean this moron has gone so far as to put our programs logo over the Nazi flag and use it as a forum avatar.

Off the top of my head I'd say that when it got installed it put the password in already encrypted. If they are simply using the PASSWORD function of MySQL (which they shouldn't do) you could just use phpMyAdmin to reset the password to anything you want.
