We use it as a group communication tool for our school volleyball booster club. Coaches emailing teams, Officers emailing parents... lots of stuff. We're just now getting geared up for the next school season, which is why we hadn't noticed the service being down before now. Our high activity period is roughly May through November. Go Lake! I looked at PHPlist, but I need for members to be able to send to the list. (This is a list of booster club members...) With Mailman, anyone can send to "everyone@clearlakevolleyball.com", and I want to maintain this functionality. I think if I asked members to go to a web page rather than use their email programs, they'd balk. Especially if they had to remember a user name and password or the like. This is not a very sophisticated group. I usually have to manually handle subscriptions and such. Is there a way to get help with why my Mailman list is not working? Or do I need to post that in another thread or forum? (I submitted a ticket...)

I too have been having Mailman troubles. I have not been getting monthly reminders and I've sent mail to a Mailman list I have and it's not going out. I found this thread because I was searching the forum before posting for help about why my mail wasn't going out. But all I see on cpanel for a mailing list choice is Mailman. Am I missing alternatives? Is there a way to make Mailman actually mail, man?

OK. That's why I included full headers. I did not have this activity on my other Total Choice account. So I'll just do the big delete and move on. Thanks.

I found Mailman documentation itself at http://staff.imsa.edu/~ckolar/mailman/mail...ickref-0.2.html It talks about being prompted for my mailing list password. I don't see that prompt when I click on Edit from the CPanel mailing list form. I just get right to the admin page. But if I click on Logout in order to try logging in again and getting the prompt, I can't logout without getting the same message in my first post; that the list does not even exist on the server. I found CPanel documentation for Mailman at http://cpanelmanual.hostingireland.ie/mailingLists.htm I deleted my mailing list and recreated it precisely by the instructions just to be sure... same result. (I think I had used the same procedure the first time I created it.) At the point that I'm hitting the wall, I've actually done very little... just the CPanel config. I'm at a total loss as how to proceed... Has there been some disableing of the CPanel Mailman config like there is for the CPanel anon FTP?

I'm new... and as I've searched archives I've seen references to topics being moved. Didn't know if I was in the right place. I'll give it a shot. It seems that I'm not really using Mailman yet, though. I've just tried to do a config in CPanel to creat the list... then Mailman didn't see it. So it seems like it might not be a Mailman issue.

I went to CPanel Mailing list maintenance and created a new mailing list called varsity@clearlakevolleyball.com. I then clicked on the Edit button and got the Mailman general options page. Seems counterproductive. By making the username totally random, users will have to write it down or leave it in their mail files... which most likely makes it less secure. I know there are digital wallets that are supposed to be secure. I use SplashID on my Palm. But what is much more likely is that folks will simply allow their browser autofill and web-dev apps to hold their logon id. Let account names be the account names, and let passwords be the passwords.

I just created a new account for a new domain that I'm managing, clearlakevolleyball.com. I have an existing domain that I manage, pearlandjrs.com, and the username is at least related to the site name in a way that I can remember it. This one is a random set of letters; not even a decent acronymish compilation. Can I submit a ticket or something to get an easier to remember account name? I know what I'd like to have if I can get a choice... It's six letters long.

I am hosting a site for a school volleyball team. Parents take pictures and I want them to get them to me via the site. I first thought of anon FTP but saw that it was disabled. So I went to CPanel and tried to set up a dedicated FTP account. I created a folder called photodrop in my public_html folder. I used CPanel Password Protect Directories to set permissions to world read/write. I went to FTP Manager in CPanel and created a user photodrop@clearlakevolleyball.com with a password. I then went to my FTP program (Interarchy) and tried to log in. Server: www.clearlakevolleyball.com Path: photodrop/ Username: photodrop@clearlakevolleyball.com Password: the one I gave it... I get reprompted for the password because the login fails. If I use my account username and password, I get to the folder no problem. I've tried a bunch of stuff, nothing has worked. Now I can't get to CPanel or FTP in even with my account info... It just times out, like FTP access is locked. What am I doing wrong?

I'm surprised how fast the DNS changes took hold. I was redirected basically immediately. In the original thread, I had asked "My current host has no stats package running. Is there a way I can use some type of tool to tell when requests to the current web host stop after my new TCH site is propagating? Some type of external tool to look for requests to the current IP address..." TCH Andy replied: "As long as you don't mind adding a short script to your old sites files, then yes - that could be done. If you are happy to - let me know, and I'll find a short script for you to add." ...meaning, he later clarified, a small javascript for my (I'm guessing index) page on the old host. Well...
