queenpictoria
Hello. I have been at this website business for less than a year. One of the things I really love about it is that I am learning so much. I get stuck and then move to the next level. Very nice. This time, I am not sure there is anywhere to go. I have signed onto 50+ webrings, and can't seem to get any sense of what I am doing. For several weeks, I had one webring navigational bar on my home page. It was a very nice one, and I was glad it was there. I inquired to the support at webring.com about how this all works. Their explaination pages are very wordy and seem to assume I know more than I do. Their forums don't work, and I have tried to get clarity about them. This topic is not intended to be outside the scope of this forum. I really need to know if I should drop them. I opened my website the other night and everything was shifted all over the place. WHEW!!! Man, I was upset! I looked at the bottom of my home page and there was a trail of dozens of navigational bars going on and on... How absolutely ridiculous!!! It wasn't like this until this week. Immediately, I went in and took the webring script out of my website. I submitted a question about this to webring. No reply. So here's the question: Is there any one navigational bar that can be applied to a website that would encompass all my chosen webrings? Why would someone want to look at all of those nav bars? I really don't want this type of layout. I don't mind a nav bar or two, but this looks really clunky and quite frankly, is an eyesore. I am sure this question has been brought up before, I just can't find the FAQs regarding them. So the webrings don't all connect, do they? Anyway, my questions have questions...I don't know...thought I did. Probably wasted a lot of time signing up on webrings. Any direction or experience out there? I'm sure there is. Could someone please straighten me out? Thanks, queenpictoria
TCH-Bruce
As far as I know you need one nav bar for each webring you want to be a part of. If you really want to be part of a web ring you should pick one or two and go that route. I agree having more than that is rediculous. Of course that all depends on what your site is about and what webrings you are joining.
DWD
I agree, each ring has its own navigation. For what it's worth, most of my rings are affiliated with Ringsurf.com. I don't remember what it was, but for some reason I had problems with, or maybe like you, didn't fully understand what was going on with Webring.com. I remember one Webring I was interested has strict rules on how it was to be displayed which contradicted with how I like to display my rings and that was a deal killer with me. As to Ringsurf, I have had any problems. I format all my rings as follows: < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring I just like the way they look this way! (And its all about looks right?)
