Dori
Hello tch, I am ready to register a domain name through your site before signing up for a web hosting package. My question is, who will actually own the domain name: tch or me? Thanks, Dori
TCH-Bruce
Hi Dori and welcome to the forums. You will own the domain. Remember the hosting package does not include a domain name. A domain name must be purchased separately. You can purchase one from TCH or you can purchase one from any other registrar and use it here. Dori
Thanks Bruce, I will purchase the domain first and then will continue on to sign up for the web hosting service. I just wanted to double check on the domain name ownership before doing so. Thanks a million, Dori

stevevan
Welcome to the forums, dori! Once you've gotten everything, stop by the Introductions section and "officially" say hi to the family!

Dori
Thanks Steve, Don, Rob and Thomas (and Bruce and David), I'm glad to be a tch member. I hope you won't be sorry for offering to help because your customers don't come any more green then me. I don't even know how to use the cute little clickable smilies. ( I have been unable to get to the .../cpanel site open and since I don't know what it means to "propagate" a domain I don't know if that is the reason that I can't get http://69.50.210.182/cpanel to work either. I'm not asking for help yet, just letting you know where I am so far. I know this is more of a "post sales" topic or a help desk ticket but before I take that route I am looking through the Forums topics to see if I can find my solution. Thanks again for the warm welcome. Dori ;o)
TCH-Bruce
Dori, the link that you posted for cPanel brings up a login dialog for me. Just enter your username and password given in your welcome email and you should be in. Remember to set your contact email address in cPanel to be notified of server issues. Use your ISP email address for this address or some other address not associated with your domain. "propagate" means for all the domain name servers around the world to pick up the address for your domain name.
TCH-Don
Dori if you do not see the login you do have to have javascript enabled.

Dori
Thanks Bruce and Don, I too have now achieved the cPanel login screen and have successfully changed my password as the TCH welcome email suggested. That's real progress. Thanks a million, Dori <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Guest uberdoyle
Can you add this information to the web hosting order wizard? To me it seems that you should be able to sign up for both the domain and the hosting service at the same time, but the Order Wizard only offers one domain option "I will use My Existing Domain and update My Nameservers only". The note should be directly under the domain options and should say "Note: A registered domain name is required to process any TC hosting orders. To register a domain name with TC Hosting click here." The link 'here' would direct them to https://www.securepaynet.net/gdshop/rhp/def...&prog_id=simple. It would improve the customer experience for new TC clients by saveing them 20 minutes of searching the forum for the answer to a common question for all web hosts. Thanks guys.
